Climate
Like most of Europe, Austria has four seasons. Summer days are pleasantly warm with cool nights. Rain showers are usually short during this time of the year. Winters are characterized by the regular and predictable snowfall, though some areas have warm dry winds. A visitor should consider the climate from time to time and place to place to be highly variable, and should pack appropriately.
Culture
The culture Austria has produced some of the world's most recognized artistic achievements. Architecture is one testament to this, evident in places like the Stephansdom (Saint Stephen`s Cathedral), Schönbrunn Palace, Hofburg Palace, the "Goldene Dachl" in Innsbruck, Melk Abbey, and the "Loos-Haus" or the "Hundertwasser-Haus." A number of the world's most famous composers, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss Jr., Johann Strauss Sr., and Johannes Brahms were born there. Like with many European nations, visitors should expect a prosperous nation with a rich cultural background.
Activities
The Austrian Alps provide excellent terrain for both skiing and hiking. In addition to Alpine skiing, cross country skiing is popular in flatter rural areas.
