Giving Back to the Earth: A Novel Approach
Dumfries, VA (Earth Action Right Now) -- These days the threat of global warming looms in almost every news piece. Will it generate a green consciousness that awakens in people longer than twenty-four hours?
One author has pledged to help the environment with every sale of his new book.
Geoffrey M. Gluckman (www.geoffreygluckman.com) will donate ten percent of profits generated from the sale of his debut novel, Deadly Exchange, to the environmental organization. The espionage thriller will be available both at bookstores and online outlets in June 2007.
"Books use paper, which means trees. It's only fair for me to give some of my profit back to the source," says the author.
His statement echoes the focus of Earth Action Right Now (E.A.R.N.) www.earthactionrightnow.org, a fledgling non-profit organization set to benefit from the author's generosity. EARN urges each person to give back to the earth everyday, not just on April 22nd. After all, the earth is the only inhabitable planet in our solar system and it supports all species everyday.
Simple things are easy to do, beyond recycling.
"For instance, each time you take a walk pick up one piece of trash and dispose of it appropriately," stated Victor Morin, Director of Media. He admits that this won't prevent global warming, but it's like a loving stroke to the Earth. It shows our appreciation for the planet we call home.
Each year Earth Action Right Now concentrates on bringing awareness to a critical environmental issue, either Sea, Air, or Land. Through educational material interested readers are informed and offered ways to take action. For 2006 and this year, the project is Sea Turtles: Honoring the Ancients of the Deep. All eight species of sea turtles are endangered, especially the Leatherback. In existence for 100 million years, their presence may be limited to as little as ten years, mostly due to the actions of one other species, homo sapiens. Full details and what you can do, available at: www.earthactionrightnow.org.
Unlike the gloom and doom coverage of global warming so prevalent today, EARN presents balanced facts in the hopes of inspiring people to take action within their communities on a regular basis. Their message is not one of fear, but love. It is the responsibility of humans to care and protect the Earth and its inhabitants. The choice is ours!
According to insiders at EARN, who got to read advanced copies of Gluckman's novel, the story is a compelling. And, at least one character has an environmental slant.
"[Deadly Exchange] can change the way you look at your job, your boss, and your life," said one source, which wanted to remain anonymous.
