Helping College Students, Parents and College Students/Parents Programs.
In 1996, I sent my oldest daughter quotations to motivate her to successfully complete her first year at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. She asked me to send the quotes to two of her friends, one at Coast Guard Academy and the other at the U.S. Navel Academy. They were appreciative of my effort to help them.
I began Avenues to Success (ATS) in 1997 feeling strongly that other parents would like to stay connected to their students and to the molding of their personal character.

Information for COLLEGE PARENT/STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS
Details of how the program works for you.
Business Concept:
Avenues to Success is a subscription-based service which sends daily motivational quotations, via e-mail, directly to the subscriber, usually a college student. Subscriptions are sold by non-profit organizations affiliated with the student/parent programs at colleges/universities as a fund raiser where the organization retains a generous portion of sales revenues. The quotations are specifically selected to help students achieve their own goals in life and are a positive reinforcement of these "avenues:" honor, integrity, persistence, courage, leadership, and personal relationships as they:
1. Contain excellent advise from very wise people
2. Bolster self-esteem
3. Help reader to discover and grow into the man/woman they want to be
4. Help the reader through rough times
5. Prepare the reader for tough situations.
Clearly, ATS gives parents the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping their student everyday through words of encouragement.
Quotation Subscription Service:
Quotations are designed for the busy college student. They are selected to be inspiring, fast, and easily read additionally, quotations will not be duplicated within an eight-year cycle. Quotations chosen adhere to high standards set forth by ATS management. Quotes of a religious, sexual, or political nature will never be sent; advertising also will not be sent with the quotations.
Avenues to Success Vision:
1. To provide a fund raising service to college affiliated organizations that is easy to administer, has high fund raising potential, and offers a unique value proposition. Organizations will be encouraged not only to sell subscriptions for parents but also for anyone in their lives themselves, siblings, work colleagues, etc. The selling potential of ATS is therefore seemingly limitless.
2. The value proposition of ATS: To enable parents and guardians to send daily motivational quotes to their children/dependents that are hoped to keep students focused on their goals while in school. While other fund raisers offer things to eat and discount coupons, ATS offers exposure to the knowledge of others that may help students to overcome obstacles encountered during their college experience it is an excellent fit for both students and parents/guardians.
3. The overriding principle of ATS is to help college students keep focused on their goals while in school. This will ultimately help them achieve their own ambitions and help develop their character.
Sponsorship:
Sponsorship is free.
Sponsorship is open to colleges and universities and their affiliates. The ideal program to Sponsor ATS would be the student/parent group. ATS will only have one group at a Sponsoring school.
Price of a subscription is only $25.00; and the organization retains a majority of the sales revenues. Sponsors are encouraged to promote ATS to parents, alumni, and others as part of their overall fund raising activities. We do not encourage selling directly to students, although independent students can also buy subscriptions. ATS provides a blog, Avenues to Success Notes, to give additional information about ATS and the authors of the daily quotes. We have a small display ad ready to promote the program and other things are in the works, including a new mailing piece. All of these will be provided at no charge for stock work.
