Gotta Love Aviation Nose Art

Whether it's a P-51 Mustang, F-14 Tomcat, B-17 Bomber, CH-47 Chinook Helicopter, or another current or vintage aircraft, the art that has covered the noses of aviation is captivating. Just Google search the term, aviation nose art, and a little less than a million entries are listed. Young kids, middle agers and seniors all seem to have at least a mild interest in the talented expressions of love, humor, war, fear, and life that occur on the noses of aircraft.

This lens attempts to bring together many of the resources that offer products related to aviation nose art. Besides just being interested in the pure talent of many of the artists who displayed their own (and other's) thoughts and feelings on the planes, my involvement in another web site (All-About-Noses) caused me to look more into this amazing culture of people who can be really fanatic about this subject.

We began the process of creating content pages about noses and the nose art photos kept cropping up. This site is still growing and becoming, but the aviation nose art section had become a popular one - in the top three most popular pages in our statistics.

The AllAboutNoses.com site is not altogether serious, given the subject matter, although there will be sections related to "real" issues regarding the nose. However, the seriousness with which engaged aviation nose art fans pursue their hobby cannot be denied. Just attend a vintage aircraft show, spend some time talking with the people who both own the airplanes and the ones who are just looking. You will discover the love they have for this unique genre of art.

Enjoy!

Nose art has been a mainstay since the first military aircraft appeared on the scene. In a lot of WWII photos they show a pilot standing by the nose of his airplane wearing a pair of aviator sunglasses with the aircraft nose art behind him.
