Of coarse, we can't all go out there are spend $500 a week advertising (I know I can't) but there are several ways that you can do it that are very cheap or even FREE!~ Here are some great ideas for promoting your AVON business for little or no cost!

Bulletin Boards
Post flyers, business cards, coupons and help wanted ads on bulletin boards at local businesses.

Business Cards
Business cards help to add a professional appeal to your AVON business. Give them to your customers, post them on bulletin boards, leave them at businesses or any where else that you can leave them.

Business cards can be very expensive. You can buy the stuff at Wal-Mart and print them out yourself. However, by the time you buy the ink and the card-stock you can spend over $30. I suggest checking eBay or Vista Print. They always have tons of free stuff you just pay the shipping. You can get 250-500 free business cards for about $4 shipping. They are very legit as I have used them and so have thousands of other reps. They also have free magnets, car magnets, pens, and all kinds of other stuff.

Tossing
Tossing is a great way to advertise and get your books out there. Check out the What is Tossing.

Start a Referral Program
Give your customers an incentive for referring customers. Let them advertise for you! Offer them a free gift or 10% discount for every friend that places an order.

Hang Brochures
Get up your brochures, new or old, place them in a What's New bag and hang them on doors. I started off with apartment complexes as it was quicker and required less time.

Raffle
Yes, another raffle idea! A great way to advertise, pull in leads for customers and reps. Create some raffle tickets a nice raffle box and ask a local business(s) if you can hold a raffle for their customers.

News Paper
Advertising in newspaper s can be expensive, however, if you have a local city or county newspaper you can advertise in them pretty cheap. I know our small, local paper only cost $18 for an ad that is a little bit bigger then a business card, has color, a border and graphics. A simple add in the service section is even less then that. $18 for a week? Not bad seeing that advertising in our regular newspaper is over $300 for something like that for 1 day!

Whether it's Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day or even Thanksgiving Day, you can turn the holiday into a AVON sales event. Take advantages of the holidays to raise your sales levels, show your customers appreciation, and have a have fun doing it. Growing your downline can take alot of time if not carefully done. The most common mistake AVON reps make with starting a downline is not sticking with it. Just because you have recruited your 5 downline members doesn't mean you can stop there. You need to continue finding them to expand your team to insure that you will always have enough recruits in your downline that are active and to insure that you meet your unit sales requirement.

Theme ideas for a Successful AVON Party or Phone-a-thon

What is tossing? Well tossing is just that... tossing [a brochure]. Well, theres more to it then that. Tossing needs to be done tastefully, respectively and productively.

Many AVON representatives toss both new and OLD AVON brochures. I used to keep all of my out of date books in a box. When I got the box full I would bag them and toss. At the time I couldn't afford to spend extra money on tossing so I made due. Every few campaigns I would have enough saved up to toss anywhere from 30-100 brochures. I tried not to let them get too old, but 3-4 campaigns wouldn't hurt.

How to toss: Prepare your brochures, bag them, pick your area and toss....again don't forget the tasteful and respective part. If you just sling a brochure out the window, residents will think your are either littering or actually be offended that you through your book in their yard. However, if you do it tastefully then you will see results soon.

How to prepare your books:
There is now definite way to prepare your books. I have picked up my own routine which I will share.

I start with all my brochures in a box nearby. I label each and everyone, and put them in another box as I go. Sometimes I will put a sticker that says something like "10% off for all new customers", "Free Gift with Purchase" or something else along those lines. Sometimes I did this and sometimes I didn't.

Once I had all my brochure labeled I would then bag them. Using the whats new bag, I would turn the brochure side ways into the bag with the end of the pages facing in and the edge touching the bottom of the bag. (In other words, turn the brochure the opposite way of the bag with the open part facing up.) It will fit very snug but that's a good thing.

Once you have your brochure in the bag, push it to the bottom of the bag. Then take the top of the bag and tuck it inside the pages of the brochure. This will leave you with a nice looking brochure that looks like it has been in celophane. This will keep the water out, show your entire book, and be more eye catching and look professional.

Once you have all your brochures labeled and bagged, them place them in a box and get ready to toss. I started on my road, then worked my way out street by street. I did venture off to a few subdivisions occasionally. Eventually I had tossed the entire 5 miles radius from my home. I started picking up new customers, got eRep customers, and even got a few recruits.

Oh yea, if you are in leadership, consider putting a label on the book that says "Help Wanted call 555-555-5555". I picked up some good recruits this way as well.
