A Brief Review of Azeri
The Azeri or Azerbaijani language is a Turkic language. It is part of the Altaic family. It was written in the Arabic script until1924 when the Soviet government introduced the Roman alphabet. In 1940 the Cyrillic alphabet was adopted.

The Azeri language is spoken by about 7 million people in Azerbaijan. It is the official language of the country.
Azeri is also spoken in the Northwestern most part of Iran where approximately another 10 million speak the language. Lastly, there are approximately 250,000 speakers of Azeri in Iraq.
