BANS ("Build A Niche Store") For The Utterly Clueless

The BANS (or "build a niche store) advertisement that you see to the right was greatly responsible for about 2 months of unexpected frustration, hair-pulling, exacerbation, sense of accomplishment and a wide range of other emotions that I have experienced (and continue to experience) in the course of setting up my BANS and just being utterly confused about the whole project.

This lens is the result of the above and my intention of attempting to intervene before others travel the same path that I went down. There are a many of times when I was about five seconds from just throwing in the towel and chalking the $97 up as a loss and a learning experience. However, there are three things that stopped me from doing that: (1) $97 is not a pittance to me; (2) I never shirk away from challenges and (3) I am not a quitter and I always finish what I start.

These may seem like honorable and respectable attributes but traveling down the BANS road tested every fiber of my will and desire and truly brought out something in me that I would never have thought was possible. I mean, consider this: I was beginning to hate my computer and everything about technology as a result of my experiences with setting up my BANS. I really had to do some soul searching.

The experiences that I go through make me think about two groups of people: those that have traveled this road and jumped ship because of the fact that it was not turning out as advertised, and, those that weathered the storm and obtained some level of success and continue to forge on. Even though I wanted to be in the latter, I sympathized with the former. I could not go through this and not share my experiences with the world for whatever value that it had, but I am quite sure that there are more people that have purchased the BANS and eventually abandoned the mission than those that have ultimately found success in the programs.

Now, understand, if you are skilled in html, SEO (search engine optimization), Internet marketing, article writing and a host of other areas relevant to building a successful site then , of course, establishing a BANS will be a piece of cake and
doing the 10 Minute thing like advertised is a strong possibility. However, if you are a newbie like I am you will probably never run into anything as patience trying in your life (not even teenage children!). Hell, it took me 10 minutes just to get the BANS software uploaded to my host server and because of the wonderful people at HostMonster I was able to do this without any nerve-wrecking problems

What it comes down to is that I believe that there should be a forum or source of information that a person could access to give you an idea of what you will be facing if you purchase a BANS before you purchase a BANS, and I have yet to find this type of source of information which is another reason why I have created this lens.

Sure, you will come across many sources after the fact in forums like Digital Point and the BANS forum where you will undoubtedly find very valuable and useful information. However, even dealing with these forums can be trying because now , in addition to dealing with the frustration of getting this project off of the ground, you have to deal with submitting
elementary questions to a group of people that you feel will think that you are an outright moron and maybe even wait days before you get a response (BANS does not have technical support phone lines). Fortunately, I have met some decent and knowledgeable people in these forums that have offered more of themselves that a person could ever ask for and are hugely responsible for the development of my BANS which sells Trek, Schwinn, Mongoose, or BMX bicycles.
