I love going to barbecue joints. Seeing a place held together by layers of accumulated smoke makes my heart sing.

Angelo's - High palace of ribs. They would have to close TCU if Angelo's closed down.
AUSTIN (and area), TX
Ironworks - Downtown and down.
Stubb's - Even though CW is gone, still great bbq and great music.
Salt Lick - so good they let them set up a stand in the Airport.
Lambert's - A high end BBQ joint, smells right and the music cooks.
LOCKHART, TX (could be Mecca for BBQ)

Cooper's Pit - consistently one of the top Texas Barbecue. Voted #1 motorcycle food - their BBQ tastes better than the bugs in the bikers' teeth.

Harold's Pit BBQ - BEST IN THE WORLD. His Damn Hot Sauce is one of the treasures of the free world. His cold-water cornbread makes you realize that you don't have to wait for heaven.
Joe Allen's - better than most. Joe's wife is a better cook, but he runs a better joint.

Goode Company Barbecue - Jim Goode is the real thing and his jalapeno Cheese bread will make you a believer.
TIOGA, TX
Clark's - Amazing ribs in the hometown of Gene Autry. Those of us in Dallas drive out and light candles just outside the door to this shrine of smoke.
LULING, TX
Luling City Market - Screen doors to the pits lets the smoke come out and fill your soul.

Louie Mueller's - Brisket from the king. My personal favorite from the Central Texas BBQ Trail.
HUNTSVILLE, TX
Mount Zion Missionary Baptitst Church - a cool church in Huntsville that sells BBQ out front.
