I've signed up for a couple of BSY Group home study courses, and am going to make some lenses with helpful links etc as I go along.
The BSY Group (Founded in 1946) offer various home study / distance courses in Complementary Therapy, Personal Development and Healthcare.
The two courses I've chosen are 'Nutrition' and 'Spiritual Healing'.

Why I picked the Course...
This course I picked, really as an overview or introduction to a couple of different areas. It touches on Meditation, Healing with Colour, Auras, Reiki etc. It just seemed to be a good foundation course to begin with.
I'm quite a logical, even cynical person. I have faith, but can't support the Church for various reasons. Because I don't have the luxury of joining a church, I feel my spiritual side gets rather neglected. Taking a course will remind me to set time aside for that part of me too.

First look at materials
It only took about a week for the materials to arrive. Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 and some bits and pieces.
The lessons are bound together in nice, basic booklets. They're black and white, and with a few diagrams dotted about. Basic but smart looking.
The accompanying letter has details of how to phone the helpline tutors. I'm not sure if I would use them to be honest. Most questions can be answered by the internet :)
They also included an older copy of the BSY magazine. A few interesting articles but if I'm honest, there's much larger commercial health magazines that offer the same type of thing for an extra 99p or so

Lesson 1
I've read through Lesson One of the Spiritual Healing course in one session, using a highlighter to make notes of the important bits. The lesson is very condensed but it's well written and fluid.
It started with anatomical information on the Nervous System and Endocrine System, and then moved on to information about the Chakra's. There's quite a bit of Jargon to try and remember, for example the different glands and I was left wanting a couple of exercises to complete to try and get the details memorised. (Pop Quiz, Crossword etc)
As someone who can't sense auras and chakras, I'd also have liked a section aimed at those of us who don't experience these things.
As a launch pad for further investigating, the lesson is pretty good.

- Jut wanted to say sorry for not continuing on to Lesson two yet. My Mum died November last year and I haven't regained my focus enough to continue. I fully intend to at some point. Jayne (Lensmaster).
