Blogging To The Bank

Hopefully, we'll all be able to do that very soon, if we monetise our blogs and web sites. Here are a few tips to help you do just that.

Adsense For Your Blog

Adsense is probably the best known way to monetise your blog, although it's not the easiest. They have quite strict rules, and if you are having your blog hosted by Wordpress, then you won't be able to use Adsense on that blog.

Currently I host my own Wordpress blog, and am in the process of finding out if I can put Adsense onto it. I think so, but will make sure, as I don't want to get penalised in any way for doing something wrong.

Will let you all know how it goes, and whether I've managed to do it as soon as I can.

Monetise Your Blog or Your Website

Until recently, I didn't even know what monetise meant. Now I do, and since it's a great idea to make a little income from your blog or site, even if it's'only' personal, let's look at a couple of ideas for monetising.

If you're into affiliate marketing at all, perhaps you could put a link on your page leading to your affiliate pages. If you write a review of the product on your site, people will find it helpful, and are more likely to visit your affiliate page. The more personal you can make the review, the better. Really believing in it helps you to write more convincingly. If you're passionate about something, write passionately!

Not quite affiliate marketing, but similar, if you are a member of any programs that build downlines, use any of their text links, or banner ads on your site. You won't earn money from this, but it's always useful to have a downline in any program, and signups are good.

Of course, one of the best ways to monetise your blog or site is to have paid advertisements on them. The best known of these is Google Adsense, however there are many other programs which will work just as well.

Remember, one of the drawbacks with these programs is that they do not permit you to advertise pages with their adverts on them, as this is viewed as artificially inflating your visitor rate. Some programs will cancel your participation for this. Work within the programs rules, and you'll have no problems.

There are many people who claim to be earning large sums from this type of monetisation, however, it will take you time to build up your earnings.

One way is to have as many sites as you can, or many pages on one site, and monetise them all. Be aware though, that it takes some time to maintain these sites, and search engines like updates. If you don't have the time to look after sites, and add new content fairly often, this will not work too well.

Did you know that the average life of a blog is only one month? If you don't think you will stick with it, better not to start at all. To monetise your blog or webpage, you need to update with new content all the time. Keep your visitors coming back, and keep your blog or site fresh.

So I Stole The Title !

OK, so the title sounds familiar - I admin it, it's a direct steal from Rob Benwell's "Blogging To The Bank"

Rob has written one of the best courses around, and if you'd like to emulate him and become a blogging millionaire, get the course: it's not expensive, and is chock full of information.

There's a full blueprint you can follow for a really successful blog, which we'd all like to have, now wouldn't we? Got to say that I'm still learning about blogging, but one day, I'd like very much to be a blogging millionaire too! :-)

Concentrate One One Thing At A Time

See the picture of all that cash? Well, I can't promise you'll earn that much from following any tips here, but let's dream a little anyway. :-)

If you are going to advertise something on your blog or site, it's best to really concentrate on just that one thing. I know I haven't done that on this lens, but hey, this is a tips page, not a moneymaking blog!

By concentrate, I mean have a blog just to advertise and review "JD's Snake Keeping Tips". (No such thing, as I haven't written it yet!) It shouldn't cost you anything, as most blogs are free, and visitors won't have to search through heaps of extra information to find what they are looking for.

Similarly, if you have a website promoting affiliate programs, keep the site for just one of these, and get other sites for the rest. Yes, it costs more, but you can have a URL relevant to the program, and again, visitors won't have to search through the whole site for what they want.

Of course, if the budget is a problem, start off with free blogs and websites, and once you start making an income, then you can purchase a domain and some paid hosting.

Good luck!
