We have known for decades that combining signs with words, stimulates a child's senses, so the knowledge is not new. However, more parents should pay more atention to it. This lens is a good contribution.

Yes, there's no doubt that babies has need express their feelings and that they have a language for doing it. To understand this language is our obligation as parents and important persons. Great lens!

I watched an interesting show on this several years ago and while there was some skepticism then, it's well and truly been quashed now. Your information helps highlight this fact that sign language and babies go hand in hand. Great effort in putting together this info.

This is fascinating information. I saw an episode on one of the cable channels a few months ago about this very same subject. It makes you think how much of a boon for parents this is in communication with their child at such a young age. Knowing what they want would ease a lot on a pressure on a parent. Great stuff.

This is a superb lens packed with high value information, My daughter had problems speaking when she was am infant, we later found out she was hard of hearing in one ear and also had a submucus cleft pallet so yes she still has trouble talking now and she is 5. She has learnt some Makaton which helps us all communicate and lot better and helpped her in school as well, so yes thansk for creating bthis lens to share with the world and educate people on the benefits of teaching there baby's sign language, well done

This blows me away! I had never considered you could teach a baby to sign. I was planning on waiting a few years before introducing my son to signing because he's just learning to walk, but now I can see the time is right.

Very cool and unique lens. Well done!

We used signing with our baby quite awhile ago and it's a great way to learn to communicate with your child. We found our child was also much better behaved in the sense he has very good manners. I would encourage parents of newborn kids to really look at this technique.

  • Cris_Stanford Oct 15, 2008 @ 9:26 pm | delete
A nice alternative to talk your your baby when they still cannot talk. Just hope they don't carry it until they grow old. Of course we would want them speaking than just doing sign language.
