If you found my lens here on the world wide web, chances are that you also suffer from the painful Bad Flare Days that are associated with Lupus.

The definition of Lupus, is very broad and can affect various parts of the body.  Our immune system when functioning correctly will make proteins called antibodies, these antibodies protect us from bacteria, viruses, or other foreign materials.

When an individual has an autoimmune disorder such as Lupus, the immune system gets confused as to what is good or bad and begins to turn against itself.   Suddenly the joints, organs, tissues etc appear as if they are an invasion in the Lupus patient.  The 'auto antibodies' build up in the tissues causing inflamation, tissue injury and severe pain.

9 out of 10 are women--People of "any" race or age can get Lupus.
