My Review of Bag of Bones

Bag of Bones, by Stephen King, is a classic ghost story that is loved by both his old and new fans. The novel is narrated by a bestselling novelist who at the start of the story, had to identify his wife's body after suffering a brain aneurysm. Things get worse as he learns that his wife was pregnant. Mike is not only troubled by his wife's death, but why she decided to keep the pregnancy a secret from him. Mike's personal troubles translate to his private life as his work struggles and he becomes ill, too ill to write.

At this point, he decides he needs to escape to his summer getaway called Sara's Laugh, in Maine. The house was named after its previous owner, a black singer from the turn of the century who disappeared without a trace), this house is where Mike wrote his first novel. This house is also where a dream haunts him.

Shortly after arriving at his getaway, he becomes involved in an ugly custody battle between an attractive young widow, her four year old daughter and a cruel, evil old software tycoon who has power and influence over the town.

Throughout the story, you are filled with the questions of any good mystery such as, are the haunting from Mike's late wife? Is there some other kind of link between Mike and the Widow Mattie, and Kyra? Who is it that keeps knocking on his door?

Bag of Bones is told as only Stephen King can do it, you will hang on to every word and feel as though King wrote the book just to tell it to you.
