Barack Obama: Christian Man of Faith
Ranked #11,149 in Culture & Society, #224,584 overall
"I'm a Christian by Choice"
Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters Buy Now In an interview (September 2010), President Barack Obama stated "I think my public service is a part of that effort to express my Christian faith."As a born again Christian myself, I am very excited that we have a President who is not afraid to talk about his faith, not afraid to defend his faith, and most of all, doesn't indicate that faith cannot have a part in how a person in government makes decisions. President Barack Obama has declared that he is proud of his Christianity. He states that he is a man of faith. It's a good thing for the leader of the Free World to be on God's side. He is wise, intelligent, and courageous.
President Barack Obama is "not ashamed" the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And if you are a Christian, instead of criticizing him for the flaws you believe he has, there should be a concerted effort on your part to hold him up in prayer and diligently seek God's favor on his life. After all, whether you voted for him or not, he was duly elected the President of the United States.
There is lots of criticism surrounding President Obama's declaration that he will uphold the Supreme Court's decision on abortion. In America we have the legislature, the courts, and WE the PEOPLE. Want to change abortion laws? Change them. If people are pro-life, then it is time to stand-up and be counted. Don't blame a man who has declared to uphold the laws.

What Does He Do?
No one is perfect!
With the postulation that everyone has flaws, President Barack Obama has exhibited character traits of honesty, integrity, persistence, longsuffering, charity, responsbile stewardship. From a Christian perspective, I am convinced that he is living out his beliefs.
Is President Barack Obama living out his Christian walk?

Yes

If you are a Christian you should know it is not for you to Judge, we don't know Obama's' heart, only God does...we are to pray for our leaders no matter who they are. I don't know Obama, neither do any of you who left mean spirited comments...but then that is your free will choice, right? Ask yourself "what would Jesus do or say about this? I don't think He would be mean spirited.
Jan says:
Come on people. It is not what you THINK that makes you a Christian...but only the work of Jesus and YOUR FAITH or TRUST in him. NO one thinks perfectly, no one understands God's Will perfectly...so get off his case! God does say: JUDGMENT is returned in judgment.

Thank you Jack and American83 for your candid and well thought out comments. I agree on many of your points of contention, yet I have hope that the work Christ originally started in President Obama continues until the day of Christ Jesus. It is unfortunate that he sat under the leadership of another Gospel for so long. I believe that intellect often gets in the way of people hearing the truth. I lift up my continuous prayers to the Father for our President and our Nation. I pray that his ears are opened to the truth and that the scales fall off of his eyes so that he can see clearly.
The leadership of a country such as America is a heavy burden. President Obama has the responsibility of opening up his heart to God and asking for the help that only comes from God. I believe that if more faithful Christians pray FOR President Obama and not AGAINST him, we would see a powerful move of God in his life which would affect every decision he makes for this country.
Typically, I hear much more criticism and negative rhetoric which I do not believe helps and in-fact harms our country. God gave us the vehicle of prayer to communicate with Him. He also promises to heal our land, if we would just humble ourselves and pray. Let us rise up as a Christian nation living in a Christian country and PRAY: for our President, our nation, our representatives, our system of government, our courts, our schools, and most of all our individual family members (who make up all of our country's institutions).
Remember Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

VivianAldana says:
Thank you for your comment Trey. I agree with you. Barack Obama should not be okay with abortion if he says he is Christian. Perhaps you could put him on your prayer list and pray that his heart changes about this matter.

Rafael says:
I could say much on this topic. I have yet to see a leader who consistently stands up for honorable morals. I don't ever remember, in my 27 short years of life, a president who ever shared the gospel publicly, (Jesus Christ' Lordship and saving power and our salvation through His death and resurrection).
We are living in very evil days. Before Christ came we could live as honorable people who served as examples of faith. Now God wants us to have compassion for the lost (unbelievers). I am against our current president as much as our recent ones. But realize that we have a duty to pray for the men who hold so much power over us and to respect them as God's tool of judgement. There are worse things than leaders who don't see things as we do or even martial law. We could be punished for unfaithfulness to God if we refuse to love in every circumstance. Jesus told us to love our enemies and to bless those who persecute us. Look at what He did on the cross.
Why do I feel Barack Obama lacks proper faith? First, his inability to address the issue of a faithless life to those who are doubting. Second, the fact that we do not hear much about him being a Christian. It's been over a year and we see the same cycle repeating itself. Campaign through spending, get elected, do things MY way, blame the Republicans (or else the Republicans blame the Democrats). Third, when something does get accomplished HE takes a vast amount of credit. And a distant fourth would be a doubt of an enthusiasm for evangelism, if he has any at all. Now I say distant because he has a job to do and it is not evangelism. But I can't imagine a fulfilling life in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ without the desire to tell the world about it. I can't picture him doing this at all. Keep in mind that I'm not saying that any other president has done this any better. But when the Holy Spirit is working in ones life amazing changes are happening at a rapid pace until we become very much like Christ. Any questions e-mail me at fonsecarj27@yahoo.com.
