Barbados villas
Barbados' unique history and ambiance make it a fun place to visit anytime of the year. Thanks to it's warm weather patterns, finding a Barbados villa rental is desirable during any season.
Some of the Barbados rentals that I've seen down there are magnificent. Their splendor seems fit a king. Speaking of kings, if it wasn't for a certain British king, Barbados might not be the island that it is today.
Barbados' distinction of having remained under British rule from its first settlement in 1627 to its Independence on November 30, 1966, profoundly affected the culture. Because of this unbroken dominion, the stoic British influence courses through every day life and the infrastructure of the island.
Yet the more flamboyant African sway pervades local life as well, and the blend of the two makes for an unmatched cultural disposition. This fusion ripples through all facets of daily living, from the foods and music to the house styles and mystical street names. Even the language is affected, with Queen's English being the official 'language' while the colourful local dialect remains in common usage.
More than 70 percent of the island's 260,000 people are direct descendants from the forced mass Africa migration of the late 1600s and 1700s-the slave trade. The island also has a peaceful blend of European (primarily British) settler blood with the Afro descendants, as well as small but vibrant Hindu (India), Arab (Lebanese and Syrian) and Jewish communities.

Finding the best Barbados rental property
As someone who travels a great deal, I know precisely where to look to find the best deal on Barbados rentals as well as the highest quality. You want both, but can you have both? Yes.To the right is a picture of the Barbados property that I stayed at last year. It really is as nice as it looks. When selecting a Barbados villa rental, you ought to think about the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces you will need to relax in. CVOA offers a large selection of Barbados villas to make booking your island getaway as easy as pie.
That picture on the right is a stunning beach cottage situated literally on the water's edge at Mullins Beach, St Peter. It's called Aquamarine, and it's spacious verandah offers mouth-watering views of Mullins beach and the sea, not to mention marvelous sunsets. Aquamarine is ideal for families looking for lots of beach and a happy atmosphere in the Caribbean. It's a fine piece of real estate.

African Influence in Barabados
Heritage seen around every corner
African influence is readily seen in the art, craft and literary works produced on the island, as well as many of the foods and figures of speech. Bajans are a quick-witted, fun-loving people and their gift for the double entendre or turn of phrase is most visible through calypso and literature. Local festivals, particularly the island's biggest national festival, Crop Over, reflect specific elements of Bajan life. The primary driving force of the economy and lifestyle was the sugar crop. It was the island's largest income-earner from the late 1600s until the late 1980s, and remains a powerful influence in both the lifestyle and the economy. Crop Over is a celebration of this agricultural mainstay. The other prime economic influence is, of course, the fishing industry and festivals hailing this trade are also held.
Barbados beaches
Barbados is a coastal community of beaches, coral reefs, tide pools, cliffs, and underground lakes and caves, and it is the eastern most island of the West Indies with a total area of 166 sq. miles, about 2.5 times the size of Washington, DC. The capital and largest city is Bridgetown, and what a stunning city it is. Barbados is home to many indigenous and migratory species of wildlife, birds, and mammals, including the endangered green turtles. The average annual temperature is 79 degrees Fahrenheit. In other words, if you visit the beach there, you can never go wrong. The sand on the beaches has a traditional yellow tint, but it's slightly denser than the sand you might find on beaches in America. Don't be surprised if you spot a green turtle moving about as you stroll down the beach. Just don't touch it. They like to be left alone and have the tendency to snap.
