Barbie and the Rockers: Out of this World is a 1987 TV special featuring popular Mattel character Barbie. The story was based on the Barbie and the Rockers line of dolls, which featured Barbie as the leader of a rock band. Barbie and her team decide to perform the concert in space after having an incredible successful world tour. Barbie and her team want to promote "World Peace" in space.

It is the sequel of Barbie and the Rockers: Out of this World. Barbie and her rock band team are returning back to earth in a space shuttle after successfully promoting World Peace as the concert theme in space. While returning their space shuttle gets into a time wrap tunnel and they are transported to the year 1959. Here she meets Dr. Merrishaw and his daughter Kim. Can they help Barbie and her team to return to their present day?

Barbie is cast in two roles, Clara and the Sugarplum Princess. Barbie as Clara encourages her sister Kelly not to give up ballet lessons. Barbie in her dream is on a journey with the nutcracker to find the Sugarplum Princess as the Sugarplum Princess can only prevent the evil mouse from taking over the earth. Will Clara's encouragement bring positive thinking to her sister Kelly and will Sugarplum Princess be able to save the world?

Barbie plays the role of Rapunzel who has the most beautiful, long and radiant hair. Gothel is the jealous and hard hearted witch who has hid Rapunzel from infant in a deep forbidding forest. Barbie plays the role of Odette. Odette follows a unicorn into the enchanted forest. Unicorn is trapped and she uses crystal to set the unicorn free. Odette proclaims herself to be the savior of the forest. But she believes she is unfit and when she is about to leave the forest she is transformed into a swan by an evil witch. Can Odette save the forest from the evil witch with the help of Prince Daniel and the animals?

Madison is manager of a band called Urban Desire, which is made up of the four male characters. When the band wins a contest, they make a trip to Jamaica for the finals, but Barbie, Nolee, and Chelsea must raise the money to travel to Jamaica. After all the characters arrive in Jamaica, Barbie feels left out as her boyfriend, the lead guitarist, begins spending more time with Madison. This causes a rift between the friends but can it be eventually resolved.

This movie is centered on the Masquerade Madness fashion show, a fundraiser for the local animal shelter. Chelsea designs the fashions for the show all on her own, causing strain on her schoolwork. Failing in geometry and too embarrassed to tell her friends, she calls on Hudson's help in tutoring. As a result, her friends begin to think they are secretly dating. By the end, Chelsea has aced her geometry test and coordinated a successful fashion show.
