Barcelona is one of Spain's funkiest cities and is also the cultural heartland of this country. Certainly Barcelona has much to offer their visitors and is only a few hours from Madrid, and just like the capital it has its own charms and share of beautiful sights for a person to see and visit. However deciding on where you stay is all dependent on what you actually what during your time in Barcelona. However below we will look at some of the alternative types of accommodation to be found in Barcelona instead of the usual hotels.

1. Apartments

You will soon find that any apartment in Barcelona will offer you everything you need to have a comfortable but enjoyable stay in this vibrant city. Certainly many of these modern apartments provide you with all the comforts that you will find in your own home and yet you would still only pay about the same as you would for a standard hotel room. Certainly if there is a group of you going on a vacation to Barcelona then an apartment would be the right choice for you as it can actually work out cheaper then staying in an hotel during your vacation.

2. Aparthotel

These are only relatively new in Barcelona and as you can see from the name it is an apartment which is within an hotel. Booking an aparthotel is probably one of the most cost effective ways for a family or group that want to be together during their vacation. Not only do these particular rooms provide you with the facilities of having an ensuite kitchen that has a cooker and fridge but you also have all the facilities that the hotel has to offer close at hand. So if you want to prepare your own meals you can but if you want to dine in the hotels restaurant you would be able to do this also.

3. Hostal

This is an even cheaper alternative to the above Barcelona Spain accommodation and compared to hotels. Hostals are very similar to hotels but are more like a guest house. In some cases you may find that these types of accommodation can offer you the same or sometimes better accommodation than hotels which are in the same price bracket. In most cases you will find that hostals in Barcelona are generally much cheaper than the hotels in some cases as much as 50% cheaper than a hotel.
