Barefoot Running Shoe

Man was not designed to run with a giant spongy pad between his foot and the ground, man was designed to run barefoot. Millions of years later, that may just happen.

The Vibram Fivefingers barefoot running shoe was named one of the best inventions of 2007 by Time magazine. They look like soft rubber socks with individual spots for each one of your toes and they'll work muscles in your legs that you never knew you had.

Barefoot Running Reviews

Read the reviews, before you buy the shoes

"The shoe arguably got in the way of evolution," said Galahad Clark, a seventh-generation shoemaker and chief executive of the shoemaker Terra Plana, based in London. "They're like little foot coffins that stopped the foot from working the way it's supposed to work."
- New York Times

"People have been running barefoot for millions of years and it has only been since 1972 that people have been wearing shoes with thick, synthetic heels," said Daniel Lieberman, a professor of human evolutionary biology at Harvard University.
- Wired Magazine

Day 11: Speedwork day. Back in the FiveFingers I zip around the track as if I've been freed from eight-ounce ankle weights. I run pain-free and fast. My friend running behind me (ha!) says that my gait has changed. Indeed, I feel as if I'm running more on the outside of my foot, rolling the point of impact forward to the toes, where I can actively push off.
