Ticket Sales & Fans
Although tickets sales waned some in previous years, the new faces and high hopes boosted ticket sales tremendously in the 2007 season. That bodes well for the 2008 season, and fans will want to buy tickets for popular games before they head to the stadium this year if they want good seats.Beside their abilities (or legendary inabilities) to play baseball, Chicago is also known for the large number of loyal fans who remain faithful in attending games even during losing seasons. Chicago knows a lot about this, since losing seasons are what they are famous for. One of the hardest things in the sports world to be at any given time is a Cubbie fan, even though historic names such as Ryne Sandberg are included on the retired number list.

The Chicago Cubs, based at historic Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois, are not strangers to the loss column in baseball. As members of the Central Division of the National League, the Cubs have stunned the Major League world recently with their win of their division in 2007, and they are looking to continue a winning trend for as long as they can. The Cubs are one of two charter members remaining in the National League (the Braves are the other), and their beloved Wrigley Field is one of the oldest and most well-known fields in Major League baseball today. The Cubs are most famous for the Wrigley Field "Bums," a group of onlookers who attend almost every home game and are known for heckling opposing teams unmercifully. They got their name not from their appearance, but rather from the assumption that since they attended so many daytime home games they must not have regular 9-5 jobs. Bud Light bought the rights to the section of the stadium this group usually sits in, and has since dubbed the area the Bud Light Bleachers, making them the Bud Light Bleacher Bums.

Cubs Curse
The Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908, and have not even managed to appear in a Series since 1945, the longest drought in Major League history. To put things in perspective, the Cubs have not graced the World Series since before the appearance of the NBA, NHL, or the NFL, a record not to be smiled upon. The Cubs are the last of the three "cursed" teams to break the drought, with the wins from the White Sox (curse of Shoeless Joe) and the Red Sox (curse of the Bambino). Since this season marks the 100 years the Cubs have been a team, special attention is being brought to the team this year, in hopes that this will be the magic year that ends the dry spell.
