Do you want to make some ankle braking Basketball Moves?
You receive the pass and you're one on one with defender. It's time to bust out that ankle braking move that will get you a clear lane to the hoop or the wide open shot you're looking for.
When you first receive the ball always assume the triple threat position. Square up to the basket with your feet shoulder's width apart and your knees flexed. Have the ball tucked back on the right side if right handed and the left side if left handed.
Below is a list of moves to practice. Make sure you practice all your moves using different speeds and fakes.

Driving to the Hoop
Basketball Move #1
One of the most basic moves the drive is essential in any players arsenal. When you can get by your defender it opens you up several options: Taking the ball all the way for a lay up or getting fouled, pulling up for a short jumper or dishing off to an open teammate. Once you've kept your opponent honest by driving past him this opens you up for all the other moves. For drills to help make your drive better CLICK HERE!
Crossover Step
Basketball Move #2
When the defender knows your strong side its time to use the crossover. This is where it is vital you learn how to handle the ball equally with both hands.
(For right to left) The crossover step move is a short hard jab step toward the defender with your right foot staying low use the same foot to take a long step crossing over the outside of the defenders right foot. Sweep the ball quickly from right to left and cut right off the defenders shoulder. Then push the ball way out beyond the defenders butt with your left hand.
(Left to right) do the opposite

The Jab Step
Basketball Move #3
The jab step is used to set up a drive or a shot. Used properly you will have the defender off balance and in an akward position to defend.Take a quick short step right at the defender while at the same time faking a driblle by bringing the ball down outside your knee. This is where the jab step pays off, you have to pause for a split second and read the defender. If he comes toward you, you just extend the jab step to a longer step and push the ball out driving right off his hip. If the defender backs off on the jab step you pull back your lead foot and take the J.
