Great networking opportunity, but not much progress?
Every one of us that starts in network marketing are sold something more than the product we're purchasing. We are sold a dream. Were we scammed? Conned? Probably not. But we were sold an emotion. We were sold a dream. That dream is very much a possibility still, even though you may have spent months or even years without too many tropical island retreats.
Unfortunately with any business, things change faster than the industry's training typically can catch up. Most of us were taught tricks and procedures that were of great use when subdivisions first sprung up, and neighborhood parties and barbecues were a regular event.. It was easy to network and share information with many people because people knew and trusted each other. You knew their children's ages and where they went to school and even their friends names. Now it is rare that you have an intimate relationship with your next-door neighbor, let alone the person who lives four houses down. Now that trust just isn't there, because we hardly know a thing about each other. Times have changed in massive ways.
So, 7 questions to determine whether you need more modern networking education are:
1. Are you still doing 3-way calls? (this gives your credibility away faster than a sneeze comes on)
2. Are you handing out business cards to everyone with eyeballs? ($)
3. Are you buying leads online? (more $)
4. Have you exhausted your "warm market" and/or do you feel uncomfortable calling them?
5. Are you still doing cold-calls?
6. Are you spending money on brochures/handouts?
7. Are you wondering why you have such a great opportunity, yet nobody seems to call you back?
If the majority of this applies to you, it's time for new education. Don't feel bad. I had to go through a major paradigm shift as well. We all do. It's just a fact of life that things are continuously in motion.
I am here to share what I have learned SO FAR with you. I want you to start gathering some information first before you change any of the ways you are prospecting and sharing information.
Start searching online for these 5 key phrases:
1. Web 2.0
2. Online traffic
3. Build trust
4. Online networking
5. Google Adwords
Remember, the team gets motivated by its leader, and in networking YOU are your down-line's leader. The more educated you are, the more people want and need YOU! Get the information as the leader of YOUR team, and success will be a bit of modern education away!
