WHAT A TOWN TO BE A FAN !

Boston has a rich sports history dating back many , many years. Of course you have the Celtics who hold 16 World Championships and are starting their quest for a 17th as we speak and then the Bruins and those great teams of the 1970's , The Patriots whom were the laughing stock of the NFL for many years are now the toast of the league and have the greatest Quaterback to ever step on a football field ( My opinion ) and then who can not love the Red Sox who have won two titles in four years after that 86 year drought and are like a religion in Boston. Yes, Boston fans have endured more than their share of misery but things are different now and Championship parades are becoming more and more Common ; This is my ode to the greatest teams on earth.

A CITY THAT LIVES OFF OF THE RIVALRIES

Boston has a very celebrated and successful professional sporting history. Along with all the winning that each team has experienced, Beantown is involved in some of pro sports most intense rivalries. Although Bruins-Canadiens may be a great match-up, the supreme clash of rivals is absolutely the Boston Red Sox vs. The New York Yankees.
The Boston-New York rivalry extends beyond the foul lines of the ballpark. These two cities both have an edge to them and particularly when it comes to sports - they just flat out don't like each other. Boston may sometimes be overshadowed by the beaming limelight of NYC. Boston and Montreal, while they are just a short distance apart, don't really battle for attention on the national (international) scale like Boston and New York.
The Red Sox Yankees match-up dates back for over 100 years and over 1,750 meetings. The history of the teams is longstanding and the storylines are memorable. The curse of the Bambino, the one-game playoff from 1978, the wild and wacky playoff series' from the 2000s and most recently an attempt to curse the new Yankee Stadium are just a few of the classic tales that are forever linked between these two foes. The teams always compete for attention in big-time sports markets and using this rivalry is an easy sell. Regular season match-ups carry the intrigue and intensity of playoff-like games and postseason match-ups in the last few years provided some of the games greatest all-time moments and achievements (for example, the Red Sox became the first team ever in MLB history to recover from a 3-0 deficit and win a playoff series).
While the Bruins and Canadiens have an extensive history of play-off wars, the fact is that the rivalry has lost some of its luster in today's expanded NHL. Despite expansion in MLB, Red-Sox-Yankees has maintained the excitement and frenzied atmosphere that its created when these teams play eachother.
North of the Border, Canadiens-Bruins (and hockey in general) is certainly the most popular and revered rivalry; however down here, the most special and passionate tradition is the national pastime. Even in two cities very deeply steeped in magnificent sports history and facing a lot of competition from other teams, people in these markets care about baseball more than hockey and as a result, both teams and the rivalry itself has flourished. The Yankees and Red Sox are driven by their desire to out-do eachother and set the new standard for success, while most hockey teams including the B's are struggling to break even and survive in a suffering professional hockey industry.

Then of course you have the Pats and Colts which has been more heated over the past few years; Brady Vs Manning and The Celtics and Lakers have a long history as well although not as much in past years.

WHY DO THE YANKEES SUCK ?

This is really is quite simple people. The Yankees Suck because they just Do ! When You grow up a Red Sox fan there is one thing you learn to do early, often, and do well ; and that is Hate everything about the N.Y. Yankees . Yankees Suck chants will break out anywhere; an Opera, grocery store, Patriots Game and yes; of course a Sox game as well. Some may call it childish but if you put up with the rude and sometimes plain dumb Yankees fans for as long as long as we have then you will totally understand this philosophy.

Gear to support that Philosophy .

Let's look at these Amazing Teams

Who are these Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are a pro baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts, and are the reigning 2007 World Series Champions. The Red Sox are a member and current champions of both the Major League Baseball's American League Eastern Division and of the American League itself. From 1912 to the present, the Red Sox have played in Fenway Park. They have endured a troubled past but have now returned to the glory days of the early 1900s by winning two titles in four years. The Red Sox are what Boston is all about and have a passionate fan base; who have suffered for many years but now can revel in all the glory that is today's Red Sox team.

Paint the town Green

The Celtics either dominated the league or played a large part in the playoffs in the late 1950's through the mid 1980's. After the death of their top draft pick Len Bias, just two days after the 1986 NBA Draft, the team fell into a steady decline, only making the playoffs four times from 1996 to 2007. The franchise has recently returned to dominance with the acquisition of power forward Kevin Garnett and shooting guard Ray Allen during the 2007 off-season.
They have a long storied past that has such greats as Larry Bird, Bill Russell, Bob Cousy , and the many more as part of it. The Celtics hold the most titles of any Boston area team.

Black and Gold Style

Not the Big bad Bruins any longer but this original six team sure has had some amazing years. They reside in a town that is just not about baseball; Boston is a hockey town too and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They last won it all in 1972 in the Bobby Orr era but showed some real promise this year with reaching the playoffs and taking a superior Montreal team to 7 games. With a history that includes the likes of Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, among many other greats the Bruins are always a fan favorite in beantown .

The Mighty Pats cannot be overlooked.

The Patriots went through many losing seasons before the Robert Kraft, Bill Belicheck , and Tom Brady era but since 2000 they have won three Superbowl titles and are there in the hunt every year now. Last season they had the only 16-0 season in NFL history but were upset by the hated Giants in the Superbowl. By far are the Pats the youngest franchise in Boston's history but in past years have enjoyed much success and become another fan favorite .

Yes, You gotta Believe !

It was not always Fun in the Sun

Red Sox fans have endured much, much pain over the years and was not only until recently that our luck changed. Call it a curse, or better team management, or fate but things were not always 'all good' around these parts. Thinking back not that far when Aaron Boone crushed our hopes in Game 7 of the ALCS in 2003 or The Buckner game in 86 and on and on . Things have reversed themselves in Beantown though in past few years and we are enjoying this while we can.

Let the Good times Roll

The Celtics are Back !

The Celtics are back ! With a convincing Game 7 win today in their first round playoff series they show they are hungry to return to glory . After a last place finish last season they turned it around this year with a 66-16 regular season and now showing they mean business so far in the post season. This is our year, Yes, the green are back in full force.

?No, this wasn't the whole Boston fan base, not at all. But it's not a coincidence that Bill Russell, the biggest sports winner in the history of Boston sports, absolutely loathed the city and a fan base that he saw as racist. His words, not mine.
