Olympia WA -- It's a Great Town!!
I started this lens to promote the sale of my house in Olympia and to tell a little about Olympia and what I like about it. Well, the house has sold, but the reasons I like Olympia are still there. I have now moved further south, but Oly has a warm place in my heart. Enjoy this lens!

For Luck Selling A House!
My House Has Sold Already, But This May Help You Too!!
My housemate showed me how to attract luck in selling a house:
Bury a Statue of St. Joseph! No joke. It's an old tradition. Check out this website for some of the tradition about it.
What, I said? I can't, I'm Jewish. To which she said, "I'm not!" and she ordered a statue right away. Oh well, I will take any help we can get!!
The statue arrived in the mail, and my housemate buried the statue right away. My friends all thought this is a trip, but still razzed me about it.
It took another month and a half for the house to sell -- just in time to close the escrow on the new house and not have double payments!! Yea!!!!
Did this help?? I don't know, but it didn't hurt, either!!

My Favorite Restaurants In Olympia
Find Good Food - Olympia Has a Lot of Good Restaurants
We have a terrific array of nice restaurants in Olympia. There are lots of good ethnic restaurants (my favorites) as well as American and Fish Houses.
- Budd Bay Cafe
- This is one of my favorites. They have good food, good prices, and a Fantastc View of the Sound from their restaurant that is right on the water. You sometimes need reservations though, because they can fill up on a weekend.
- Lemon Grass Restaurant
- The Lemon Grass Restaurant has the best Thai food I have had anywhere. The food is great, the restaurant is always packed. The flip side is that dining may take awhile....but the wait is Well Worth It!
- Osaka Restaurant
- Osaka Restaurant is one of my new favorites. We just found this restaurant about six months ago and since then have been there about every other week. Very good food, reasonably priced and friendly owners.
- Tugboat Annies
- This is another of my favorites. This one is also right on the Sound with a view overlooking the water. The food is very good and reasonable. The atmosphere is laid back. There is sometimes music. And there is a pool table and a bar. They also have one of the best ice cream sundaes around.
- San Francisco Street Bakery
- Since I couldn't find an actual website for the bakery, I am using this page, since it tells a little about the bakery and other institutions in the area.
For my part I "Love" their baked goods. And it is Always pleasant to go over and get some soup and a bagle for lunch and sit in the native plant garden next door. The bakery has also just renovated their own front with some nice landscaping and tables. - Wagner's European Bakery
- I also like this restaurant for lunch and their pastries. An extra treat is the piece of their choice of pastry that they add to add to your lunch. (Yum!)
- Anthony's
- This is my one concession to a restaurant chain. I love their food. This is a little more upscale than the other restaurants I have recommended, but the food and the view are worth it.
The Capitol Campus In Olympia
Our Pretty Capitol
I love the Capitol Campus. This is a nice drive around it. The clip is a little long, so you can watch as little or as much as you wish. There are some nice clips of the Puget Sound below as well. You should visit the campus in early spring. They have planted daffodils and tulips around the circle and the rhodies are beautiful.

One Of Olympia's More Fun Events
The Procession of the Species Parade in Spring
This is a wild and crazy event, lots of fun. People dress up as their favorite animal, make animal floats and people bring their pets to the parade. Anyone can join in the parade. Lots of fun is had by all!!
Things To Do In Olympia, WA
You Can Do Anything Here!
. Percival Landing is a raised boardwalk overlooking the sound. You can come out here to watch the boats, watch the sea gulls, watch the seals, watch the people or just get a breath of fresh air and take a nice walk along the way. There is a nice marina and little shops along the way. It is also a meeting place for friends. Very pretty along the water.
. The Washington Center for the Performing Arts has some first rate theater, concerts, commedians. We have been to all at one time or another.
. Shopping whether downtown in any one of a number of shops or at one of the malls around town. Archibald Sisters downtown is one of my favorites, where you can find an aromatherapy gift, earrings, gag playing cards or items skewering your favorite politician. My favorite places to shop are Safeway, Fred Meyer, Lowes, Macys, Archibald Sisters and Barnes and Nobel.
. Come to the Olympia, WA Farmer's Market. This is a really nice farmer's market that is just large enough to have a little of everything and small enough to be able to see the whole thing in a short time. They feature local crops (many organic), flowers and crafts. In the summer they even have bands that perform for the people who come to the market. The Master Gardeners have a booth, so you can bring your gardening questions there, and they have a display garden on site. This is one of my favorite places.
. Rent a kayak or pedal boat at a number of locations right on Puget Sound.
. The Olympia Film Society provides quality film offerings for the City of Olympia.
. Drive around the historic district and see some of the beautiful early 20th Century homes.

Check Out The Olympia Farmer's Market
OK, So This Is A Commercial By The Market Itself, But It Gives A Really Nice Overview
This is another of my favorite places to come and shop, have lunch, check out the music, stroll through the garden and just people watch. (And No, I am not an employee of the Market.)

- I've driven through Olympia many times, but haven't stopped in a number of years. But I might have to come back to check out the Procession of Species parade. That sounds fun!
