Yep, Great Googley Moogley does it again!

Of course I saw Belleville Monster Invasion at a pre-release party over the weekend...it's a Great Googley Moogley movie. And it's about monsters. Sure I personally would have loved a few more curvaceous cartoon characters, and at least a small nod to the the type of character Kim Bassinger played in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". But that one gripe aside I have to say I loved it.

Definitely in my top 3 of Great Googley Moogley movies. I've seen some mixed reviews. And Belleville Monster Invasion is the typical fish out of water story that has our bumbling hero turning things around just in time to be triumphant. But we all knew that would happen.

I have also wondered if a movie about monster might have a limited appeal to adults who do not have young children. Judging from the weekend box office, I guess not. One of the things that struck me most was while watching the trailers. There were the usual previews of CGI talking animal and bumbling human movies, but then came a trailer for their next release, a remake of the classic "Ice Cold Hyde".

Something about it just felt totally different than the usual underground monsters movies. If there is one thing that a Great Googley Moogley movie is not it is thrown together and cheaply done. There is a care and a craft to a GGM movie that you rarely see these days. There were a few certain things that put Belleville Monster Invasion a notch or two above most other computer animated films out there.

The amount of movement in all the chase scenes, the breath taking scenery when Roxo's trying to get Boo home safely (I don't wanna give away too much here), the amount of sheer "hair" detail in Roxo's furry coat. All of these minuscule things add up to one great movie experience.I had early reservations that they would be able to pull this off, but they succeeded. Go see Belleville Monster Invasion!!

Kudos! Revolutionary!

~ a FAKE FILM review by Ozzie Faker

I also saw The Belleville Monster Invasion at a pre-release party and it was great!!! The animation was amazing, the story top notch and it had the right ratio of action to humor.

This is probably one of the best animated movies I've ever seen. OH, and my 4-year-old liked it too! :)
