Benefits of Travel in Motorhomes
Ranked #161,205 in Travel & Places, #3,109,962 overall
Caravans are gradually giving way to the motorhome for sightseeing and travel. A motorhome offers some benefits that the caravan does not.
Traditionally caravans were the way everyone chose for their trips to see Australia. You just needed to hook up your van and off you went. Nowadays, motorhomes are gaining in popularity. As the aging populations cuts loose and goes off around Australia, they still want a reasonable amount of comfort. While caravans certainly offer plenty of comfort, a motorhome may offer still more. For a start everything is in the same compact unit. This makes driving - and especially reversing - a great deal easier.

And have you seen the driving seat in some of those motorhomes? It looks more like a luxurious lounge chair. There would be no numb rears from sitting in one of those for a full day of driving. And if it happens to be teeming rain when you finally pull up after a long day on the road, you don't have to venture out to get into those home comforts. All you need to is stand up and turn around and it is all there ready for you. Now that is luxury-plus.
Some people find that towing a van is stressful. And certainly towing anything is different from just driving the one motorhome. You have to hook it up, then unhook it if you want to drive anywhere without the van. You have to get that caravan level, and make sure all the connections from car to van are secure. Those lights need to be working for turning reversing and braking. With a motorhome there is no worry about hooking up. It's like having a great little home and car all in one.
