Why Use the Best RSS Feeds?

The Best RSS Feeds can be found everywhere. When you see a feed icon on a web page, it means these pages serve their content in syndicated format. Feed icons, or text links, can be found on Blogs, Squidoo Lenses, Social Bookmarking Sites and Social Networking Sites.

The Best RSS Feeds are preferable to other types of updates because they are instantaneous; you don't have to wait until a designated day of the week to receive your summary. They will also never be held up by a spam filter.

Of course, if you have been around the internet for some time you probably know how to use the best RSS Feeds to keep yourself up to date with news and fresh postings from your favorite web sites. However you may not be aware of some of the techniques I will describe and the resources I will introduce to you in this Lens.

So, what are the seven uses? I believe they are:

1. Keep Informed And Up To Date
2. Research Your Market Or Business
3. Provide Fresh Content
4. Sell As An Amazon Associate
5. Sell As An eBay Partner
6. Build Back Links For Your Sites
7. Test Niche Markets Quickly

Of course, there are bound to be more, but I think seven is enough for now, otherwise this Lens will get too long!

FriendFeed Keeps You Up To Date

FriendFeed Automatically Imports Your Social Networking Activities

FriendFeed enables you to keep informed and up to date with the web pages, photos, videos and music that your friends and family are sharing. It offers a unique way to discover and discuss information among friends.

Sign up for FriendFeed, invite some friends, and get a customized feed made up of the content that your friends shared - from news articles to family photos to interesting links and videos. FriendFeed automatically imports shared stuff from sites across the web, so if your friend favorites a video on YouTube, you get a link and a thumbnail of the video in your feed. And if your friend likes a news story on Digg, you get a link in your feed. FriendFeed makes all the sites you already use a little more social.

You don't need to install anything to use FriendFeed. But if you already use Facebook, you can add the Facebook application to connect your Facebook profile to all the other products you use around the web. You can also view your FriendFeed in your iGoogle homepage or read it in a feed reader. If you make your FriendFeed publicly visible (kind of like a blog that writes itself), you can embed your feed in your home page or blog - just like I have here.....

Use RSS Feeds For Research And Information Gathering

Combine Your Favorite RSS Feeds With Your Choice Of Reader

Feed Readers are a great way to syndicate the RSS Feeds from your favorite Web Sites and Blogs into one location. There are a multitude of free Feed Readers available to choose from, including Bloglines, Google Reader, My Yahoo, Netvibes and PageFlakes. I have to confess I have only tried a few of them, but without doubt, my favorite is Google Reader.

You can use Google Reader just to keep yourself informed about current events, or as a powerful research tool to monitor what is happening in your industry or marketplace.

Rather than re-invent the wheel, I have incorporated the following videos from Ed Dale of Thirty Day Challenge fame, which provide excellent tuition for utilizing Google Reader.

If you are at all interested in using the internet for Marketing and Money-Making activities, I would have no hesitation in recommending that you join the Thirty Day Challenge. This is probably the best training of it's type available today and, best of all, everything is totally free.

You can join by clicking www.ThirtyDayChallenge.com here.

Fresh Content For Your Lens Or Blog

Incorporate RSS Feeds To Help Keep Things Fresh

Incorporating RSS Feeds from other relevant sites is a great way to help keep your Blog or Lens fresh for your visitors.

However, you should be aware that this strategy will not help your Lens stay fresh with the search engines. This is because the RSS Feeds are not loaded when the search engine robots are inspecting your site.

The feed displayed below is taken from StumbleUpon, you are welcome to add me as a friend there, I am MLineker.

Sell Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk Products

Further Revenue Opportunities for Amazon Affiliates

Lensmaster TheFluffanutta has produced a great utility for selling Amazon products via an RSS Feed on your Squidoo Lens. If you would like to know how it is done, head over to Amazon RSS Feeds to find out all about it.

If you are wondering why you should use this rather than Squidoo's Amazon module, there are a number of reasons:

1. The RSS Feed allows selection from .com or .co.uk, Squidoo currently only has .com.
2. The RSS Feed provides greater flexibility and control over product selection.
3. The revenue is all yours!

The feed display below demonstrates the use of this utility.

Sell eBay Products

Extra Revenue Opportunities For eBay Partners

RSS Feeds can be used by eBay Partners to incorporate appropriate eBay Product Lists into their Squidoo Lenses or Blogs.

As with Amazon, utilizing eBay RSS Feeds gives greater control over the product selection criteria and the choice of country location.

The feed display below shows how it looks.

Manual submission of your RSS Feeds can be very time consuming. So, if you would like to automate the submission process I think you will find the next module of great interest...
