Just a quick look at some of the best PC games coming this year. Here are listed 10 personal favorites of me in a random order so take a look and have fun.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2
The original Dawn of War was a well received RTS game that merged a lot of the features of other same-genre titles with the rich mythology of the Warhammer universe. Considering that Dawn of War engine was used to forge the equally impressive Company of Heroes, we now have a developer who is coming back to show off their RTS maturity all over again. Dawn of War 2 is set to showcase the series-standard visceral combat, as well as new features such as a non-linear single-player campaign and co-operative multiplayer. From the gorgeous visuals that are being shown off in the Dawn of War 2 trailers, this game is sure to give StarCraft 2 a run for its money. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2 Official Movie

StarCraft 2
Speak of the devil, here is the game that Dawn of War 2 has set out to beat. In a battle of the sci-fi, RTS sequels, StarCraft 2 is claiming to be the "ultimate competitive real-time strategy game." Naturally, the sequel will see the return of the three original races although StarCraft 2 is planned as a trilogy of sorts with Terran: Wings of Liberty, Zerg: Heart of the Swarm, and Protoss: Legacy of the Void being released separately. While this may sound like a money-making scheme, Blizzard assures the gaming world that there is enough unique content in each title to justify its division. Time will tell, but we expect to see a highly polished game with an emphasis on addictive multiplayer. STARCRAFT 2 'Opening Cinematic' Teaser HD

RAGE
RAGE may well be a multiplatform release, but while the next-gen console fanboys are fighting it out after John Carmack announced that the PS3 had slightly better graphics, the PC gaming community is laughing about the PC's real advantage: mouse-assisted aiming. Its post-apocalyptic world may be similar to that of Fallout 3 (sans the whole nuclear holocaust thing), but when it comes to shooters, id knows how to make seamless combat, without the need for VATS. Regardless of how good RAGE pans out to be, at the very least, the new id tech 5 technology is destined to live on as an FPS engine standard (much like Quake 3). And nothing is known yet about potential of multiplayer, one of iD's strengths. RAGE Game Trailer 2008 from ID / EA

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is another multiplatform title that PC gamers have the edge in with computer controls. The Call of Duty franchise has had a necessary kick in the pants twice-over since Treyarch's Call of Duty 3. Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare smacked the shit out of the supposed tarnished reputation of the series, and Treyarch struck back with Call of Duty: World at War.This leaves the ball firmly in Infinity Ward's court to snatch back the CoD crown and provide another awesome romp in the ever-improving world of the war-based franchise. Co-op is surely a given, but its the campaign which we are hungry to know more a. As there is next to no information available at this point about Modern Warfare 2, there is also no trailer.

Aliens: Colonial Marines
H. R. Giger's Alien + squad-based colonial marines gameplay + developed by Gearbox Software = hell yes! Aliens: Colonial Marines is set after the events of Alien 3 and allows the player to issues orders to squad mates or even switch to control them. Colonial Marines will feature a no HUD, with players relying on their wits and the use of the ominous sounding motion tracker to determine where the nasty xenomorphs are coming from. Both cooperative and competitive multiplayer are set to be included, the former having has particularly excited.Aliens: Colonial Marines will also feature quick time events that will occur when the player is attacked one-on-one by an alien drone or facehugger not so sure about that. Either way, it's been too long in between decent Alien games, so we can't wait and the developer's last outing, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, was awesome!

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising
After suffering several shipping date changes, Operation Flashpoint 2 is finally set for an "immovable" release in the second quarter of 2009. Sequel to the super-popular, award-winning Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, Dragon Rising will see players battling across 220km/sq of terrain. The style of the sequel will be more mature with an emphasis on authenticity. Extreme authenticity, with any change to the real-life weapons and vehicles in the real world to matched via a patch in the game - even if it is just a colour change.Buildings and other world objects will feature multi-stage, multi-sectioned demolition, with the game remembering damage that has been done and retaining it throughout the game. With around 50 vehicles and 70 real-life weapons in Operation Flashpoint 2 as well as co-op (8 players) and versus (32 players) multiplayer, it will be interesting to see how it fares up against the less simulator-like Modern Warfare 2.

Wolfenstein
It's good to see that they haven't tried to chock a number or more words onto the end of the new Wolfenstein title and have, instead, opted for the shorter approach. Wolfenstein will be set in 1943, when Nazi Germany is still at the height of its might. Those nasty Nazi fiends are dabbling in the occult again and have unlocked a doorway to a dimension dangerously close to our own reality. Beyond the plot description, details are scant, but gameplay will take place in both the real world and parallel dimension, with some interesting special abilities as a result of the link between the two worlds. Diablo 3
It may well have been eight years since we saw the last Diablo title, but that hasn't stopped controversy from being kicked up in the form of a fanboy fuelled petition to stop the game's current development direction. Controversy aside, Diablo 3 is tagged as an action-RPG that incorporates Havok physics along with destructible environments. Although the current Diablo 3 media shows off some rather pert visuals, the game is being designed with a wide range of computer configurations in mind: Crysis 2.5 this game is not. Multiplayer will be available via Blizzard's Battle.net with drop in/drop out cooperative play supported. Diablo 3

The Sims 3
Sure The Sims may be one of the strangest of choices to adapt into a movie, but the series sure knows how to produce games that sell like hotcakes. This time round, the NPC Sims will live out their lives regardless of whether the player is in the game with them. Many of the tweaks and improvements from The Sims 2 expansion packs have made their way into the sequel, with 11 possible careers and a Create-A-Sim feature that will allow you to modify pretty much everything about your playable character and living environment. Splinter Cell: Conviction
Splinter Cell: Conviction is another unfortunate example of a game that has suffered from lengthy delays. Originally slated for a mid-2007 release, the game has been pushed back to 2009 (for now) but will continue the tale of master-stealth operative, Sam Fisher. Despite the multiple delays, details are still scant, but from what little has been released its known that Fisher has abandoned his clean-shaven appearance and gone rogue. The series-impressive visuals have been further improved, with gameplay that has evolved beyond the already different brawling action shown off in the 2007 trailer. It will be interesting to see if Ubisoft Montreal can stay true to the stealth aspect of the franchise, while adding some series-unique features. It was also be quite exciting to see how Sam Fisher is utilised in the recently announced Tom Clancy's MegaGame. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
