The Best Bass Fishing Info and Bass Fishing Techniques

I have been fishing for as long as I can remember and competing in tournaments for over 20 year. Along the way I have picked up some of the best bass fishing info that has been found.Being a board member on the Minnesota B.A.S.S. helped me to learn a lot but also it taught me to share and promote this great sport.

Now, I don't say this to brag but rather to tell you where I came from. I would like to share some of the things that I have learned that have made me a better bass fishermen. The bass fishing techniques that I am going to share with you are just a few of my favorites. These are my "go to" techniques that I use to catch more and bigger bass every time I am on the water.

Now of these techniques are hard to learn and should be used as a base for your arsenal. My thoughts are that if you know what you are doing and you have confidence in the lures and techniques you are using, you will become more successful. These bass fishing techniques will not only make your buddies jealous but could very well help you compete at a high level in any tournament series.

This information is not your basic run of the mill stuff, this is the stuff that makes the pro's wealthy.

Top 5 Bass Fishing Techniques!

Brought to you by www.BestBassFishingInfo.com

1. FLIPPING!
Flipping can be a deadly accurate presentation for targeting bass. This bass fishing technique is mainly used in water that is five feet deep or less. Once, you have mastered this technique you may very well be unstoppable in the fishing world!

2. PITCHING!
Pitching is the same as flipping in that you can present your lure into tight spots with very good accuracy. You can also place your lure with out spooking the bass by keeping it on a low trajectory and softly entering the water.

3. SKIPPING!
Skipping soft plastics has got to be my favorite bass fishing technique. When I see a stretch of docks or low hanging trees my palms get sweaty. I know that the fish will be there taking full advantage of the shade and cooler water.

4. DROP SHOT!
I first learned about the Drop Shot rigged with plastic worms while watching one of my favorite Saturday morning bass fishing shows.

5. CAROLINA RIG!
The Carolina rig is simple yet very deadly in catching bass. This technique is not very complicated to use. However, it seems as though it has fallen to the bottom of many tackle boxes. The average fisherman considers this only a deep water method of fishing and since most recreational fishermen like to beat the shoreline, the Carolina rig goes unused or not used effectively.

A GREAT day on the water!

How I learned to use a JIG!

I can remember when I finally committed myself to learn how to fish with a bass jig. I had just finished a tournament and had not done well at all. As I hung my head and kind of listened in to the conversation that the guys that won were having I heard the same thing thing I had heard before.

These guys were talking about one the best bass fishing techniques that there is. They were fishing JIGS!

Now, I had always known that big and bulky lures got big and bulky bass but I had never had much luck with a jig. I guess I should restate that, I had never committed to using a jig before. It was like a light bulb went off in my head. It may have been dim at first but after I thought about it, it became clear and bright!

What would I do?

Well, the next day I was off to a new lake to practice for the next event and instead of loading my boat down with my normal equipment, I brought only 2 rods and a box of jigs with assorted trailers. I was going into the unknown. I fished that whole day with nothing more then a jig. This was something that took some guts for me. It started out slow but once I caught that first fish, I was hooked. During that day I caught some of the nicest fish I had hooked up with in a long time.

I had broken the ice and added a new bass fishing technique to my growing arsenal. I now had an idea of what I was missing. To me, the jig was always just weight in the bottom of my tackle storage area but now it was firmly planted on top. Although it took some time to master, once I did it became my "go to" bait when ever I needed to catch the big fish.

The equipment that I use for jig fishing is stiffer, longer rods and heavier line. I do still favor mono but have slid into the super lines as of late. I really like to use a medium heavy 7' bait-casting rod coupled with a high quality reel. I spool up the reel depending on the conditions. The heavier the cover, the heavier the line. I never use anything less then 12 pound test and have never needed to use anything heavier than 20 pound test. Even in the deepest, baddest places, the 20 pound line has done the job! I favor the "Big Game" line in all applications.

The jigs I use are as varied as the water I fish in. But, the one thing that is constant is the color choices that I make. I use black/blue, green pumpkin and brown jigs. Nothing more, nothing less. I know that many fishermen will argue their favorite colors but these are the one that work for me.

If there is one thing that I have learned and had it stuck in my head it is this: YOU HAVE TO HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOUR LURE AND TECHNIQUE OR YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED!
