HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE BEST BASS FISHING POLE?
There are hundreds of choices when it comes to picking the Best Bass Fishing Pole.
There are ultra light, light, medium light, medium, medium heavy and on and on....
There are spinning rods, spincasting rods, trigger rods and casting rods.
Then there are the handle style choices.
Man, it can be confusing!
Just take a deep breathe and hang with me for a few minutes and we will figure this giant puzzle out!
There is a purpose for ever different size, weight and style out there. The trick is to match the best bass fishing pole for YOU to the conditions, techniques and lures you will be using. By taking the time and making the right choice, you too can be reeling in the fish of a lifetime in no time!
WHAT WEIGHT FISHING POLE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Ultra light, light, medium light, medium, medium heavy, heavy or extra heavy...
Making the choice on what weight bass fishing pole is right for you can be the single most important decision you make before hitting the water. There are so many things to consider but it mainly depends a couple of things and the rest will fall into place. The two things that I give the most consideration to when making this choice are cover and lure size.Simply put, how tough are the conditions and how big is the bait you will be using!
AN EXCELLENT CHOICE TO GET STARTED WITH ULTRA LIGHT FISHING
a great value combined with quality...
ULTRA LIGHT/LIGHT
The lightest of all fishing poles...
Ultra light and light bass fishing poles are not very common but they are out there. Both the ultra light and light weight fishing pole may be just too small to handle the hard fighting bass. Although, catching a nice fish on this weight rod is a ton of fun, it also adds to the chance of breaking off and ending up with nothing but air on the end of your line. You will need to use light line and small lures with the ultra light. These fishing poles are great for finesse styles of bass fishing. I like to use a small spinner type bait such as a beetle spin or something similar. I have caught some of my biggest fish off of these small lures and light action fishing poles. I really like the sport of using lighter tackle, it becomes a great challenge to land a good fish on smaller and lighter equipment.

THE PERFECT MEDIUM LIGHT CHOICE TO GET THE LADIES INVOLVED
not only high quality but a great looking combo as well...
MEDIUM LIGHT
A great finesse style fishing pole...
The medium light weight bass fishing pole is way more common then the ultra light or light weight pole. The medium light pole should be part of every bass fisherman's "tool box".This is an excellent choice for finesse fishing, drop shotting with small baits or skipping lures under docks. I use my medium light pole every time I am on the water. I have always been more of a finesse fisherman and this rod just feels good in my hand.
I actually have three of these ready to go (sometimes even four) at all times. I rig one with a drop shot for fishing weed edges. I rig the second with a tube jig or small stick bait like a rapala. And the third with a plain worm hook usually coupled with a senko or curly tail worm for skipping under docks and trees. I never use line any heavier then 10lb test on a medium light fishing pole. This weight pole is almost always a spinning style rod.
I have caught many, many big bass with this weight class of fishing poles. Being from Minnesota, there are times during the summer that the fish are in shallow water and that is when these rods shine the brightest. These fishing poles are so versatile that they can be used in all but the heaviest of cover with great success.

DO YOU WANT TO CATCH BIGGER FISH?
this is a perfect combo to use while jig fishing...
MEDIUM/MEDIUM HEAVY
The most common bass fishing pole...
The medium and medium heavy bass fishing pole weights are the most common ones available in the market today. These fishing poles come in spinning, spincast, casting and trigger styles. I prefer the trigger style poles that I mainly use for fishing with jigs. Did I tell you jig fishing is my new favorite way to catch big largemouth bass?I spool these fishing poles with the heaviest line that I can get away with and still be able to make long and accurate casts. Normally, I go with 20lb big game test line. It is a strong and reliable line.
These poles are very versatile and should be another addition to your "tool box". Like I said, I mainly use these for fishing with jigs but they can always be used very effectively with crank-baits, spinner-baits, top-water lures and many others. They do not work the best with light lures, but anything that is heavy enough they are the best choice!

TOP OF THE LINE HEAVY COMBO
for the bad places big fish live...
HEAVY
The best fishing pole for heavy, deep cover...
When it comes to fishing for bass in heavy weeds such as milfoil or lily pads, you need heavy tough equipment. This is where the heavy weight rods excel. If you were to use a fishing pole that was any smaller weight, you would never get the fish to the boat with out breaking your line or worse yet breaking your pole. These rods and mainly made in the trigger style and are designed to take the abuse of some bad places. Remember this, "Big fish live in bad places"!
Armed with a big bulky and heavy jig you can not only get through the heavy weeds to where the fish are, you can pull them out of these weeds once you have them hooked. This is the key to success in these areas. Many people stay away from the deep weed beds as they can be very difficult to fish in. But, there is a prime opportunity in these seldom fished areas. These fish do not have the same pressure that other easier to reach fish have.
You could very well catch the fish of a lifetime with the heavy weight fishing pole!
