    I love this lens, really do. It actually made me smile. My MIL always said to me I would know how she felt if I had a son. I had 3 daughters at the time, now my youngest is a son. I try my hardest not to be softer on him. Am I going to turn in to " One of those MILs? Hope not!".

    Kudos on your site. Please consider posting my YouTube video. I've never seen anyone do this before, so it might inspire others to do the same thing. Aug. of '09, my son was getting married, and one of my tasks was to find the perfect song for us to dance to at the reception. I found the song I liked, "The Man You've Become," but the only version available was recorded more like a big production than a sensitive, loving moment in time to share with my son. Though I was very nervous to do such a thing, I called a local recording studio and booked a session. I practiced a lot, until I thought it was good enough for my son. I recorded it, and had the DJ play it as a surprise to everyone at the reception while we danced. He was deeply moved by what I had done for him, and the guests enjoyed it as well.

    A month later, we hosted a local reception, so we had a video made with the song playing in the background to show our friends who couldn't go to the out-of-town wedding.     Here in the Philippines, we usually dance wlatz and slow romantic love dances for the groom and mom my son has a girlfirirnd already but I told him if you prepare not only financially but more specially emotionally, mentally and spiritually

    Another Bowie fan? Wow. I liked "Cracked Actor" from Aladdin Sane. We used to play it in our band (I play guitar). Do you like Gary Numan also? I saw him in concert before he departed for his acting career. I had a backstage pass and met him. We used to play "Friends" from his debut album. He was very similar to Bowie in his early days. I also like Iggy & the Stooges. Blessed!

    My mom loves American Idol, and the year David Cook won is when my brother got married. My brother let my mom pick out the song and she picked 'Time of my Life' by Cook. It was such a beautiful dance, and the song worked out quite well!

    Being a single parent with my eldest son, I say Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi to him every day when pregnant and every night I sang him to sleep with it as an infant. We also played it at his wedding. :) Still makes me cry.

    I can't remember the song. I don't think I ever heard it before. But I will always remember the dance with my son. He was the youngest and the last to be married. I was so emotional and so very nervous. I was crying and told him I was nervous. He tried to comfort me. Imagine that. Should've been the other way around.

    Tears come to my eyes every time I hear "Wind Beneath My Wings" due to me sharing a dance with my Mother-In-Law two days before she passed away. It always makes me sad, but it's a good memory.

    I'm not one for tear-jerkers at weddings. Any upbeat song is best in my book. It was difficult to watch the mother and son dance on the You Tube vid. It looked rather tortuous and both seemed as though they couldn't wait for the song to stop. My vote is for happy go lucky, zippity doo dah, hip hip hooray--anything but somber and heart wrenching!

    This is great. Hopefully the information here will help build some good memories. Things like weddings are huge events and last a life time. It's nice to have those triggered by a song many years later.

    These lyrics are hysterical!! I swear, I was laughing my ass off... Yes, you should let the mom dance with her son to this song. I think it's different and unique, and the fact that you wrote it just for him, is a huge plus by itself. Nuff said... Do it!!!!

    This is a terrific list. I got married (the first time :)) about 17 years ago but I don't remember the song that I danced to with my mom. But I do remember the experience which is a wonderful memory to this day!

    Sometimes we can forget that as important as is the wedding for the two people getting married, the parents importance of a wedding of their children can be as significant!     It was very emotional and wonderful and if you think this is hard, just wait until they are about to become a Daddy. OMG! I was crying in the department store today trying to buy baby gifts for the shower. :) I picked up a bib that said "I love daddy" and realized that my baby was the daddy!

    Oh my goodness! You know, my son is only 15 right now, but I thought your lens would be fun to have a look through anyway, and I was looking through the list of songs... and I got to "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" - and took myself completely by surprise by blubbing - just reading the title LOL. I'm not that prone to getting tearful, and there's absolutely no reason for the tears... except the idea of that song seems to have conjoured up some powerful emotion! Well, I guess that's going to be "our" song then :) Thanks for the lovely awareness you've brought. :)

    I was a mobile DJ for 9 years. It's funny how many soon to be grooms don't realize there is a mother/groom dance. There are so many choices out there from the most common (safe) songs to inspirational songs. Thanks for posting this - grooms need more choices, after all Momma's are special!!

    There is nothing much more special than seeing your mother happy on your wedding day.Songs are really a creative way of showing your true emotions to the bride and groom..The songs in this lens are somehow classic but the lyrics are great!

    I love this lens. When my daughter got married, her new husband danced with his mother to "You Raised Me Up." This was always a favorite song of his mother's, and was especially touching since she DID raise him up from a young age as a single mom. How he loves and appreciates her! They danced as she smiled up at him through happy, tear-filled eyes.

    I never really thought of that yet, mostly because my son is only 8 years old now. One day I will have to think about this too. A few of the ones suggested in the polls are great songs, but I am not sure if it is right. I hope you found a good one!

    RMS, your lens is very well organized and unique. Cool. Are you a GiantSquid? I learned from a wise man that "if you want to BE the best in the future, then you must LEARN from the best in the present." Truth be told, I am just a newbie babysquid :)(for now that is).     "I turn to you" is the best song for me for mother and son song. A mother's care is really the most caring and passionate thing in the world. From the day we were born up to this date we are loved by our mothers so we must love them and care for them in return.I love reading the suggestion songs.     They have some unique stuff and prices to die for, Their blog says they will be adding mother of the groom/bride dresses very soon too!

    Anyway -- love this lens! NO matter what song you choose --- it'll be the right one.

    I did like that song "I will always be your mother" but I thought it abit unusual when the mothers dancing with the son and the bride was standing by watching, even she got bored off waiting so she crouched down lol. On your wedding day its supposed to be about the bride and groom its their special day.

    I say go for Kooks. After the wedding fuss is over the only people that will remember years from now what song you danced with your son at his wedding was, are going to be those closest to you that know the story and know why it's special.
