Soccer Coaching

Soccer is a sport that's been around for ages. The best time to learn soccer is during childhood or adolescence, when a person still has an abundance of strength, agility, and endurance.

When you're teaching children, be it a difficult and boring subject such as science or mathematics, or an active sport like soccer, the main concern is always how to make things fun for them that they would eventually want to learn more about what you're teaching out of their own will and curiosity. It's hard to make children stay put because they naturally have a short attention span, and they have to scratch that itch to engage in something new every few minutes... Soccer Coaching

As with any other sport that involves working with a team to reach a goal, soccer is great for children. It further promotes to them the concept of group interaction and teaches them the importance of teamwork and fair play. Soccer is a wonderful activity that not only helps children's well-being and health, but also enhances their social skills.

With these values in mind, you can start soccer coaching . Before going out on the field, it's best to take the time to get everyone comfortable. Plan a sort of getting-to-know you party, where kids can talk to each other, find out their reasons for wanting to learn practice, and initiate camaraderie. You can also use this event to get to know the children's parents and their expectations from you as a soccer coach. Furthermore, you can give a few words on the history of soccer, royalties or big names in the game, and interesting soccer-related trivia to keep them interested and eager to learn.

Then it's time to start the ball rolling. On the field, one of the usual tips in soccer coaching is to avoid the three Ls: lines, laps, and lecture. Lines are discouraged because it could make the last child on the line formation feel embarrassed. Laps should be avoided because they beat around the bush and don't provide specific training. And of course, lectures should be rare and short because the children under your hat are there to play, not listen to you talk.

Every coach has his own set of tried and tested drills. If the drills you're working on are not producing the effect you hoped for, then accept the need to become more flexible and adapt other drills. You can find several drills online, as well as warm-up exercises and soccer game strategies for children.

Skills are not the only thing you have to worry about when coaching. One important aspect that you need to develop in the children is work ethics. They have to learn how to treat practice seriously. To avoid having them come late or hurt each other purposely on the field, provide a punishment, although don't label it as such in front of the children. Assign the last player to arrive to handle cone duties or clean-up tasks.

These simple tips should get you ready for soccer coaching .

Soccer Coaching - The Positive Way

Michael Weir

Soccer coaching in a positive way is important for the morale of your team. It is important at all age groups but especially when it comes to dealing with children. Have you been to a match or practice where the parents are almost uncontrollable? Or the coach is shouting at the top of his lungs and turning red in the face as if he were about to explode? This is not the way to coach a soccer team. It is detrimental to the child's wish of participation and it shows a lack of good mental health on the part of the adult.
Please remember this is a game not a war. If a child misses a pass or goal it is not the end of the world. Here are some tips to keep cool while soccer coaching...read further more
