Bible Articles I Have Written

Bible Articles from a Conservative Christian Perspective

I have written several articles about the Bible, and I would like to make them easier for people to find. I am interested in the end times, and have been studying it for years. I like to look at the newspaper and see the scriptures come to life. Some of the articles that I have written about are articles about the news and how it relates to the end times, other articles are about generic topics, other articles relate the stories of today with what the Bible says. In some of my articles, I have written about some of the things that I have learned about from different sermons in my church.

Prophecy and Earthquakes

Photo by runrunrunMatthew 24:7 says "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places." Have we had more earthquakes than ever lately? Are we in the last days?

This page goes through the various earthquakes that we have recently had, and compares it to the average yearly amounts of earthquakes that are seen, as well as the average amount of deaths. Find out more about Prophecy and Earthquakes.

Spotlight on Ezekiel

A New Project Based on Sermon Notes

xymonauEzekiel is one of my favorite books of the Bible. Well, all the end-times prophetic books are. I was pretty excited when my pastor said that he was going to be preaching on the book of Ezekiel verse-by-verse.

It is my goal to create a set of articles based on sermon notes that I take as he goes through the book of Ezekiel. Now, there may be a section that I miss now and then: I work in the nursery at times, and occasionally, one of my kids gets sick and I have to stay home to take care of them. I will try to get a large set of articles based on this interesting book of the Bible.

My first article, Finding God's Will for Your Life, based on Ezekiel 1:1-3, is available online now.

Revelation Revival

We recently finished a series on Revelation at our church, and I've been writing articles on what I have learned. I hope you find these useful too.

Seven Day Theory

One of my most recent lenses is on the Seven Day Theory. The Bible says that a day to the Lord is like 1000 years to us. God often works with patterns, and many young-earth-creationists believe that it's possible that God is recreating creation through history. The Seven-Day-Theory believes that as we enter the seventh millennium since creation, we might also be entering the tribulation, which is followed by the millennial kingdom, which could be compared to God's day of rest.

Numbers 10-12 in the Bible

Featured Lens

I've been reading through the Bible, and I've been writing down some of what I've learned. After recently reading Numbers 10-12, I wrote about it. Here are some of the topics that I noticed:

When the Cloud Says "Jump," Israel Says "How High"? - we might not like uncertainty in our life, but think about how the ancient Israelites must have felt! They went straight from being slaves in Egypt to wandering around the desert, following a cloud.

Hobab of Midian Makes a Choice - Hobab, son of Moses's father-in-law, is only mentioned twice in the Bible, but he chose not to stay with God's chosen people. His family lived with the Midianites, who later fought against Israel. Our children watch our example.

Complaining About Not Having Enough - The Israelites wanted some meat, and they complained. They were on their way to the promised land, and could have had meat then, but they wanted meat NOW. We're much the same way. We don't feel like we have enough possessions, and we use credit cards to get what we want now. The Israelites that ate the meat died. Although we don't usually die for succumbing to our desire to have things now, we often end up in the bondage of debt.

Moses, Servant of God - Moses was known as a servant of God, and he put others first.

Is the Bible Relevant Today?

Is the BIble relevant today? The Bible has always been relevant. It teaches people how to live a good life. It gives us the principals that we need to live a life that is pleasing to God. It also tells us about what we need to get to Heaven. Because we all make mistakes and sin, and God cannot take sinners into Heaven, He sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay for our sins. If we repent and trust Jesus to be our Savior, we will be forgiven.

But today, the Bible is even more relevant than ever. Reading the Bible is often like reading tomorrow's newspaper. Will America continue to be a great, powerful nation? Will Iran and North Korea make their moves? Will Israel be destroyed? The Bible gives hints to all of these topics. By reading the Bible, I saw that America's economy was in trouble more than a year ago, and I called my grandma and asked her to get my inheritance out of Microsoft stock. Later that year, the stock market crashed, so I would say that was a good move.

Many of my Bible articles talk about the news, and how it is relevant to what the Bible says. Some of my Bible articles and lenses are created out of what I discover when I read the Bible. If I find something I want to share, I write about it. I hope you find them useful.

Is Swine Flu In The Bible?

Perhaps as one of many Pestilences...

When my husband called me up on Saturday to tell me that swine flu had spread to the United States, I was a little concerned, but not too surprised. As someone that has been following the development of Bible prophecy for the past decade, I know that there are some things that the Bible predicts will happen in the last days. Is swine flu talked about in prophecy? I believe that it is.

Matthew 24:7

One of the most well-known Bible prophecy verses that describes some of the events that will happen in the last days is Matthew 24:7: "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." Divers is an old way to spell diverse. So this verse says that in the last days, there will be pestilences, in the plural. The dictionary says that pestilence is a contagious disease. Swine flu qualifies as a contagious disease. As of the most recent update that I have seen on Google Maps, swine flu has been confirmed on two continents and is suspected on four. I guess "diverse places" is up to interpretation, but since this virus has not been contained yet, it remains to be seen in how many places swine flu will end up.

What I Timothy 6 Says about the US Economy

Should We Be Concerned?

The Bible Tells Us to Be Content

The United States is in a lot of financial trouble. We have spent beyond our means and dug ourselves into debt. People covet money and things. We want a bigger house, a newer car, and we'll do anything to get it. The Bible talks about these symptoms, and it has a remedy: contentment.

What Loving Money Does

Most people have heard that "the love of money is the root of all evil." That comes from I Timothy 6:10. Many people have not seen the rest of that verse, or the verses that come before it. I'm going to take a look at the rest of the story and apply it to what is going on in America today.

"But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare." (I Tim 6:9) When the Bible uses "will" in this sentence, it means "want to" or "desire to." People that have a strong desire to be rich can fall into temptation. Well meaning people can be tempted to gamble, cheat on their taxes, and steal in order to make themselves rich. They might take credit for work that they did not do. Banks desired to make as much profit as they could, so they lent money to people that they knew would have a difficult time affording the loans. People took out "no doc" loans or lied on their loan applications, ending up with loans that they shouldn't have gotten in the first place. Some people purposely rack up credit card debt, knowing that they plan on filing bankruptcy later. These are temptations that people can fall into when they desire wealth. Read the full article->>
