From the time my parents bought me my first hand tossed Guillows balsa wood glider, I've wanted my toys to fly. I've tossed gliders, wound up rubber band powered balsa planes, and build control-line planes, radio-controlled planes and model rockets by hand. I've flown all kinds of kites and tossed Frisbees, turbo tubes, aerobees, and boomerangs. I even launch Sky Lantern hot air balloons. My toys need to fly! Here are several really cool flying toys that I have discovered.

Micro Metal Gyro Copter
I'm not a big fan of helicopter flying toys. You know, the ones that look like "Helicopters". This little Micro Gyro Copter is the exception. It's tiny and flies really well. (I remember when R/C helicopters were almost impossible to fly, due to them using "real helicopter" tail-rotors for yaw control.)

What Is A Sky Lantern?
A Sky Lantern is a Hot Air Balloon.
Sky Lanterns, Kongming Lanterns, are the World's first hot air balloons. They are named after the legendary Chinese strategist, Zhuge Liang, who was honored with the title "Kongming". In the 3rd century BC, these inventions were used as military signalling devices.
Sky Lanterns are made
from pressed or rolled rice paper and bamboo.
Small candles or wax pads are used as a fuel source.
Air, heated by the burning candles and wax, rises inside the balloon's envelope, pushing cooler air out the bottom of the balloon. The less dense hot air, inside the balloon, makes the balloon lighter than the surrounding air, causing the balloon to rise. Flickering light from the
burning wax illuminates the translucent rice paper creating the visual "Lantern" effect.
Today, Sky Lanterns are used at parties, holiday festivals, religious events and life milestone celebrations. Wishes and prayers are written on the sides of the Lanterns to be carried into the Sky.

The previous offerings were a few more of the Big Boy Toys that I found to be unique, interesting, intriguing, and Fun. These are my "Favorites", because THEY FLY! Some of the toys are for personal play time and others for sharing with family and friends. Or for surprising the unsuspecting random passerby. There are more Toys us Men, with inner boys, would enjoy receiving as presents. I will be creating more Toy Lenses shortly.
