Howard and Rajesh spy on Penny and Leonard with a webcam after they return from the restaurant. Penny had said that the fish was bad but they think she said that they should slow down a bit, They try to convince Leonard that the date did not go well.
Penny felt uncomfortable after the date about not finishing community college. She lied about her college career to Leonard and swears Sheldon to secrecy. This is hard for Leonard and results in Sheldon moving out. Howard brings Sheldon back home. Sheldon took Valium unknowingly and tells Leonard about Penny not finishing community college. Leonard tries to help by giving her some info on local community colleges. She is annoyed and slams the door in his face. Raj is in People magazine's '30 Under 30 to Watch' list which makes his friends jealous. Wolowitz is jealous because he was not mentioned for his design that led to Raj's discovery and Sheldon cannot understand why Raj's work is being recognized at all. Leonard doesn't like the jealousy and they all try to support Raj but his antics leads to a strain between them. Leonard is still supportive, but loses his cool when Raj asks Penny to go to a People party with him as his date. After the party Penny and a drunk Raj return to his apartment and get a web call from his parents. They criticize Raj for dating a white girl even though Penny tells them she is not his girlfriend. Raj becomes sick from the drinking.
The next morning Raj is hungover and goes to Penny's door and she makes him apologize. This prompts Raj to say he is sorry. She forgives him and hugs him and Leonard sees the hug. Raj grins at Leonard. Sheldon comes out and forces a smile.

He instead moves into his office for the duration of Leonard's night shifts. Leonard lives in peace in the apartment for an extra week due to not telling the actual end date of the night shifts.

Wolowitz thinks he has found his soul mate-Dr. Stephanie Barnett, until she meets Leonard. Wolowitz lets her drive the Mars rover and she goes into a ditch. Wolowitz destroys the security tapes and hard drives to hide what the evidence. Leonard does not know how to tell Howard that he is dating Stephanie. He decides to go to tell Howard himself. Penny accidentally shoots a paintball capsule at Sheldon's 'spot' on the couch and she and Leonard struggle to clean it. They try turning over the cushion but Sheldon notices and finds the stain. Leonard makes a website to sell the products and adds a one day rush shipping option. They get an order for 1,000 Pennyblossoms and they all five work all night to finish only to find the same customer has ordered another 1,000. This leads them all to quit because they are tired. Sheldon is still hyper from the coffee and refuses to quit and he runs off in his Flash costume to get more coffee.

Howard is celebrating his 'space toilet' at the comic book store by buying all of his friends new comics. Stuart tells Leonard that he has a second date with Penny and asks for advice. Leonard ignores his request for help as he doesn't like him seeing Stuart. Leonard later tells him to take it slow with Penny with hopes that she will dump him. Leonard feels guilty about this advice he gave and goes to apologize the next day. Stuart says his advice was perfect in the beginning because she was drunk and they starting making out, but that she blurted out Leonard's name. Leonard celebrated out of Stuart's sight.
Howard finds out he made a 'small' error on the space toilet that will cause it to dispel the waste through the ISS after ten flushes instead of into space. He asks Raj and Sheldon to help him fix it and they do. The episodes ends with the International Space Station astronauts asking to do a spacewalk because their waste had leaked out of the toilet.

Big Bang Theory - Season 2 Episode 23
Sheldon can pay for a three month expedition to the North Magnetic Pole thanks to winning a National Science Foundation grant. He wants his three friends to join him. To prepare for the trip, the three spend time in the freezer at the Cheesecake Factory. When Penny learns that Leonard is leaving she seems upset. She gives him a blanket with sleeves and gives him a hug. On the morning of the trip, Leonard asks Penny about the meaning of the long hug and the blanket and she says just that she will miss him and hopes he has a safe trip. However, when she closes the store she says to herself that she meant that she wishes he was not going. The group leaves for the Arctic.
