American Bike Trails
The trails are conveniently cataloged on a national map using Google maps. You can pan and zoom in on the map to see white trail markers and highlight a specific trail. Continuing to zoom in on the trail you can use hybrid satellite imagery and almost read sign boards. The trail maps are of course supported by comprehensive text information.
Next up is the American Discovery Trail which is billed as the only coast to coast non-motorized recreation trail in the US. It runs for more than 6,800 miles and passes through 15 states. Note that the trail splits into two optional routes across the Midwest and the coast-to-coast distance using the northern of the two options, through Chicago, is only 4,834 miles.
It should also be noted that the American Discovery Trail is extensively used by hikers and also used by horse riders.
