A Biker Leather Jacket For Everyone
A quality biker leather jacket is not only protective, but it speaks to the wild side in everyone. Even if you're an angel, you want your halo to be propped up by impish horns from time to time. Slide into a biker jacket and feel the transformation!
A good Motorcycle jacket is something not easy to forget. It can shroud many memories. I once knew a man who seemed to own only one coat. It was a well worn biker jacket. He once explained to me that the leather jacket was his brother's and the jacket was nearly 20 years old. He then explained that his brother had been dead 5 years and wearing the biker jacket was the best tribute to his brother he could make.
If more people wore leather biker jackets, the roads would be less crowded and more friendly.

The Three Coolest Biker Jackets Ever
There are many iconic attributes or items that we see everyday that speak of 'cool'. Scars, a swagger, the way hats are worn are just a few, but none of them say cool like the leather biker jacket. The wearer of the biker jacket is seen as many things, none of them angelic, and most who wear the coat are never seen as totally evil, although there are few exceptions to this rule, we see those people as mostly those who live on the edge. Our inner selves yearn to be like them, thus the term 'Weekend Warriors'. And few jackets have left of more lasting impression of the 'rugged good-guy' than the jackets worn by Evel Knievel, James Dean, and Marlon Brando.
Those of us who remember the anticipation of waiting to see that red, white and blue (mostly white) jacket and cape fly magically
over buses, fountains, cars, and almost anything that would stand still, remember that we also watched to see if they would land unscuffed. We also watched because EvelKnievel dared us to. Evel was daring personified. Famous for his crashes and bravado, Evel was the ultimate showman. The P.T. Barnum of the 1970's. Here was a man that created his own legend by pretending he was several different members of the press, so that he could get his first Vegas jump. The rest of his career, he body surfed on our need to be thrilled. We would cheer when he landed and gasp when he failed, either result would have us talking for weeks. How many of us built ramps in the allies and streets to jump our banana seated bikes across, because of that leather jacket and the man who wore it?
The jacket that we see James Dean in was the icing on the dark cake that bore the taste of the 'restless youth of America'. In an era that was the infant stages of the cold war, America's youth began to take the rebellious
nature that comes with youth more seriously, or at least they began to question authority and why do those who have authority have it. Not having the answers to the questions they had, some youth became disenchanted with the American dream. They became rebels. The rebel that Dean represented was one on the edge, but who had a true and honest heart. His is the jacket that makes women swoon at the bad boy image. The guy that races for the sheer excitement, and loves with passion. His jacket is the protector of the rebel spirit.
The granddaddy of all 'cool' biker jackets was the one sported by Marlon Brando, a.k.a. Johnny Strabler, in 'The Wild One'. 'The Wild One' was the original biker film. But, the
movie was layered with characters that on the surface were mindless beasts, and under closer examination had very humane qualities. Johnny Strabler being the most human of them all. The wandering rebel, looking for his soul and trying to hide it all in the same snarl. Johnny was the penultimate chaotic good character, never meaning to do much harm and trying to do right as he saw fit. His jacket was well worn and just the look of it said it had many stories to tell, some not too wonderful but not all together hateful. When we see that jacket, we think of how we would ride with Johnny, bit would feel uncomfortable if he came into our cafe.
Johnny Strabler, James Dean, and Evel Knievel all would still have been memorable without their jackets, but the biker leathers help promote their everlasting personalities. Personalities that we have daydreamed to emulate from time to time.

Which of the three is are your favorite? The Marlon Brando (aka Johnny Strabler) jacket that just says I'm a good hearted guy that's a bit hell bent? Or maybe the James Dean rebellious youth look? Or, could it be the Evel Knevel 'I got life by the horns and I'm riding it hard' look?
Whichever it is, let the world know which one you like and why!
I dig the Johnny Strabler look because he was a man that teetered between good and bad

Ladies' Biker Jackets
Classic Leather Motorcycle Jacket

The standard Classic Motorcycle Jacket is still a hot look. Quality naked cowhide at an unbeatable price
And The Jacket Says Moo
Why Cowhide?
Wow. When it comes to choosing a particular kind of leather for a garment, the options can seem mind boggling. It seems that anything we can wrestle to the ground (or bring to the shore), we'll make leather out of. Lamb, Kangaroo, Stingray, are just a few, but the best for biker gear is cowhide.
Cowhide has a strength and durability that is unparalleled. 'Top' grain leather, leather that has been sanded and lacquered to remove any imperfections, can be 1.3mm thick and provide protection. But, the best protection against the elements and road rash is 'Naked' cowhide. Naked cowhide is treated by just removing the hair and applying dyes. This process allows the final product to be at least 2mm thick.
So, if you are truly seeking a good biker jacket, make sure it's cowhide, and remember that most styles are available in 'Naked' leather.
Care For Your Biker Leathers
Helpful Tips
There are four stages in caring for your mens leather jackets, womens leather jackets, vests, and chaps that include cleaning, conditioning, polishing, and protection. When perusing the store shelves for a product that fits your needs, be watchful for what kind of product you're purchasing. It can be confusing to try and figure out which product is for which stage, but look for words that explain how the product is to be used. It is also important to remember to work on your leather in a well-ventilated area. Some leather care products are very strong and can cause irritations.
- Cleaning
- To clean a leather item, such as a biker vest, first choose a cleaner that will help preserve the natural lubricating oils instead of stripping them. For example, saddle soap is a commonly used product for equestrian tack. It is meant to be used as a cleaner and a protector from moisture, but it strips the leather of the oils in the process of attempting to do two jobs at once. The cleaner of your choice should not leave any greasy residue behind. Residue makes leather susceptible to bacteria and can break down the stitching of your item. Before applying anything to your leather item, be certain to test it out for effect and possible color distortion on an area that isn't visible to the eye. Once you've ascertained whether the leather care product is acceptable to use, apply it to your item. With a slightly dampened cloth, remove the cleaning product. For areas with stitches, there are brushes available on the market. Another cleaning product to consider having in your leather care collection is a nubuck cleaning cloth. They have an astonishing ability to clean and restore leather to its original look.
- Conditioning
- Leather conditioners are meant for occasional use. They contain fats and/or oils that help lubricate leather and replenish the suppleness. Look for a product that will penetrate the strong fibers in leather, but beware of any that include petroleum or mineral oils. While petroleum by-products won't damage your leather immediately, they do over a period of time. Again, just as with cleaning, keep on the look out for thick, greasy conditioning treatments for the best care of your leather.
- Polishing
- Polishing is done for special occasions when you want a more glossy finish on your leather. There are a couple things to be wary of when purchasing a polishing agent. Some products contain coloring factors that will brush off on things you come in contact with. Some products also have a tendency to clog the pores in leather or dry out the leather. Just as with cleaning, be sure to test out the product on a small area and when ready, buff to a shine.
- Protection
- Moisture barriers are extremely crucial in preventing rain or other liquid hazards from damaging leather. Stiffness and spouting will happen if leather isn't protected beforehand. There is a drawback in protecting leather with a moisture barrier product. They tend to fill in the pores with a greasiness that makes cleaning, conditioning, and polishing difficult, but it's a necessary process to ensure leather isn't destroyed. Periodically apply a moisture barrier and allow it time to penetrate and dry before using your leather item.
By following these tips your biker leathers will bring you many years of comfort, style and lasting protection.
Insurance For The Leather Biker Wear
What a great idea. An insurance company now covers a rider's helmet and leathers(biker jacket, gloves, leather chaps,etc.). Bikersure, an insurance company based in the United Kingdom is now offering coverage up to $700 on helmets and leathers under the premise that these items are part of the safety kit.We recognise that good quality helmet and leathers are an essential part of a motorcyclist's safety kit. We want to make it affordable for bikers to ride safely. Our Helmet and Leather policy makes it possible for them to easily replace damaged kit after an accident
For the cost of $20 a year, motorcyclists can obtain coverage on the kit. The insurance company also recommends that riders should invest 15% to 20% of the cost of the motorcycle into a proper and high quality kit.

Someday Could Be Today
The road droned on forever under the blazing sun, which bore down on me through the bug speckled windshield."Daddy! Are we there yet?" I heard for the umpteenth time. Just then, as the words bored a hole into my numb mind, a cruiser rolled passed us. A biker and his babe.
Strapped to the sissy bar was a touring bag that looked full. The wagon, the kids, Marge, and myself followed that touring bag for miles, all the while my thoughts drifting into a daydream of freedom. Freedom from the hassles of what is supposed to be downtime. No rushing here or there worrying about kids sunburns, hunger, or lost toys. No worries about the accommodations. No rolling steel box with the restricted windshield view. Just the wind in my hair and the mind eraser of the V-Twin rumble. I watched the bike roll down an exit ramp that led into nowhere.
There I saw Marge look back at me. She too had watched the bike. She smiled an I love you and said, " Someday soon darling. Someday soon."
Leather touring/sissy bag. made from top grade cowhide, a two bag set features long adjustable and detachable nylon straps and converts into a handy backpack. Dimensions: 21" x 21" x 12", 15", x 9" x 10".

Tips For Buying Biker Leathers Online.
When shopping for biker leathers online, often we see the very same photo of what looks like the very same (I mean EXACTLY the same, right down to the model and pose) jacket, chaps, vests, etc., but the prices are vastly different.
Naturally, we think that maybe one retailer is trying to gouge the so-called 'unsuspecting' shopper and we opt for the lower priced goods. Well, sometimes this is the case, but the real reason is even more devious. The lower priced apparel is most likely made from lesser quality material and the seller gives no indication in their description. By inferior, I mean less than Naked or Top Grain cowhide. The material that is cheaper can be as poor as split leather. One hint at what you may be looking at can be contained in the SKU. Sometimes you'll see a suffix of a number between 01 and 09, 01 being the highest quality. But, your best bet is to contact the retailer and ask. Some of us are actually human and will be more than glad to talk with you.
Size does matter!
You better believe it does. So, you've found that jacket you just gotta have. You know the one; your statement for the bike. Before you assume that you know that a medium is what you want, refer to a Size Chart. Most, if not all, e-stores have one on their sites. The size charts are usually dead on and will save you and the retailer time, money and a myriad of other hassles. If you don't use the size chart, you may end up turning 5 days into 15 days or more. Besides, we at Bikerleather123.com would NEVER tell anyone you ordered a large.
