Why We Need Wildlife Around

Ranked #159,555 in Business & Work, #1,193,995 overall

As a general population, we have usually no idea why we would want birds, bats, bee's or other wildlife around. As I have come to learn, without these critters most of our pollination of plants (all types) wouldn't happen. Not only do these critters pollinate our plants, they are excellent at controlling mosquito's, flies and other pesky insects. So if we put up birdhouses or bat houses we increase insect control and keep our plants growing.

My mission

My mission is to help everyone understand what these wildlife critters actually do for us and the reason they are on this earth. Not only are they beneficial for us, kids usually get a little excited as they learn about birds and bats. Might even be able to shed a little light on the myth's about bats. There are even birdhouses with a camera inside so that you can watch as the hatchlings are born and being raised.

Roost houses offer small birds an escape from rough weather
Those small birds aren't pigging out at the feeders because they are too lazy to forage in the wild. They're looking for all the food they can eat just to survive. Our winter nights aren't as long as those in the far north and they aren't as cold.
NJ Audubon Encourages Everyone to Keep Bird Feeders Well-Stocked During Winter
In Feb., March and even April, natural food stocks for birds are low. The millions of birds that spend the colder months in New Jersey benefit greatly by offerings of bird seed, suet and other food items via backyard birdfeeders and birdhouses.
