Haircare and Skincare for Women of Color: Beyond the Pre-Packaged

Have you looked around at pictures of young women of color on Myspace, Youtube, and other sites where you see the mistakes of too much make up and over processed hair?  They are all falling for the same myths that deny global warming and maintain that too much chocolate causes acne pimples.  It takes years to discover that most of the products purchased do very little to restore the balance of nutrients in our skin and hair.

We all go through the aggravating process of buying commercially produced pigments and skincare products that don't address our special needs.  It takes more than changing a label and making the color darker for a product to truly meet our demands. New cosmetics are always being developed and you can learn to blend your own make up to enhance your natural tones if you begin with any of the mineral makeup alternatives to the mass produced items in stores.

Take control of what you put on your face and body by finding the raw materials or the premade products with ingredients compatible with dark and desireable beauty.  Find out what works for growing longer, healthier hair.  Learn to blend your own hair ingredients or find out what techniques serve to prevent hair breakage.  Find out what products deliver and which products should be flushed!

Be sure to scroll the whole page and explore haircare and skincare possibilities!  There are many sites that have limited time offers that you won't want to miss.  If you are ready to take more control over what you spend your hard earned money on, there is definitely something here for you!

Mineral Makeup Experiments

I just got my kit......

The mineral makeup kit arrived Friday evening without too much fanfare. I hae the pigments and a lovely battery operated grinde/blender waiting for my first step into a new world that promises to free me from some of the problems that I have had with other types of cosmetics.

It has an instruction booklet with it and in that are the instructions for blending my first mineral foundation. I have been staring at the open box, and the grinder with its batteries waiting to be used. There are extra empty containers that are black with shaker tops. The only thing that would perfect the picture would be if I had purchased a gram weight scale, but my first experiments won't really use that many ingredients. I am going to start with small amounts until I like what I see, then make larger batches for a multiple day supply.

This kit cost about the same amount as just the foundation powder cost on T.V. or in the stores. I have 13 containers of pigments.

Such a deal.

About Raven56

I have always loved dabbling in cosmetics, essential oils, and natural alternatives to some, but not all, alternatives to commercial products. I feel that I should exercise as much control as possible over the ingredients that go on my skin.

I have grown tired of paying for creams and such, where I can tell I am paying for a name and a fancy bottle, but only 2 good ingredients, so I have been on a quest for a couple of years now, for the igredients that are necessary.  This way, I can pass on what I have found to others who might benefit.

To that end, I have started writing little articles on several sites that address some of the concerns that women of color have when if comes to skincare, hair care, and cosmetics.

I hope to provide as much information as I can that we might all find greater satisfaction in our appearnce and sense of well-being.
