Black Tea Has Many Health Benefits And it Tastes Great!
Ranked #4,426 in Food & Cooking, #84,233 overall
Black Tea is also a Health Drink
Black Tea is a remarkable health drink, which many overlook. Some prefer Green Tea, but did you know that you can get the same benefits by drinking Black Tea?
This is because Green tea and Black tea come from the same plant. In fact, there are two other teas that can also be made namely oolong and white tea. What makes these teas different from one another is simply how it is processed.
In fact, among tea drinkers there are actually many different types of drinks. There is chai tea, Chinese tea, herbal tea, flavored teas, jasmine tea, loose leaf tea and tea sachets. It is actually amazing to go to a tea specialty shop. You just might not ever leave.
But this lens is going to focus on Black tea. Is actually the most common and readily available, but in my opinion one of the best tasting.

Benefits of Drinking Black Tea
There are many benefits to drinking tea. Here are just a few.
If you drink Black tea regularly, you will have healthy arteries and increase your blood flow because it has antioxidants known as falconoid that also give the tea its rich flavor. Your cholesterol levels will also drop, you can protect yourself from certain cancers, develop stronger bones, fresher breath and fewer cavities.
Just like coffee, Black Tea contains caffeine. The difference between the two is the fact that a cup of Black Tea or any other kind of tea only contains 30 to 40 mg. of caffeine while coffee contains about 135 mg.
Another benefit of Black Tea is the fact that it is calorie free. However, this will only stay that way as long as you don't add any sweeteners or milk which many people can't resist since tea tastes bland without these additives.
A Fabulous Choice For Preparing Your Favorite Drink

Primula Glass Stovetop Tea Pot with Infuser
Amazon Price$26.73

About this Telephoto Zoom lens Product Description
This glass teapot with a capacity of 40 ounces turns the act of brewing tea into an artistic presentation. Loose tea leaves are placed into the glass infuser, hot water is added, and when the water reaches the desired color or strength, the infuser is lifted out along with all the loose leaves. A glass lid keeps the heat in, and the graceful loop handle makes the pot easy to pour. Tea flowers look beautiful in the pot, too, and work best without the infuser. Made of lightweight yet laboratory-strength borosilicate glass, the teapot won't stain and is safe for use in the microwave and dishwasher. For the tea drinker, Primula also sells a glass tea-making mug and packets of tea flowers, which are AA-grade green tea leaves and actual dried flowers that are hand-sewn into tight balls by artisans in China. After a tea flower ball is place in hot water, it will slowly sink to the bottom and unfurl into full "bloom." Some even have two different kinds of flowers that unfurl into a colorful spectacle, adding fragrance and flavor to the tea.
The Black Tea Plant Before It is Processed Into Loose Tea

Tips For Brewing Tea

Heating is important to get the most of a sachet of Black tea. This is because the heat helps the tea leaves impart their taste to the water. To do that, you have to set the sachet in the kettle for 2 to 3 minutes before pouring it into the cup. This allows the tea to seep.
Some tea drinkers enjoy putting the tea sachet right into their cup so that it can seep the entire time they are enjoying the drink. The tea will become stronger the longer it seeps.
If you don't like the taste of Black Tea and want to sweeten it a bit, try putting in some sugar, honey or a slice of lemon. You may even add milk, or cream or flavored creamers just like those the coffee drinkers use.

More Information about Black Tea from Wikipedia
Black tea is a variety of tea that is more oxidized than the oolong, green, and white varieties. All four varieties are made from leaves of Camellia sinensis. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor and contains more caffeine than the less oxidized teas. Two principal varieties of the species are used, the small-leaved Chinese variety plant (C. sinensis sinensis), also used for green and white teas, and the large-leaved Assamese plant (C. sinensis assamica), which was traditionally only used for black tea, although in recent years some green has been produced.
Other Great Tea Ideas

You may enjoy a snack whenever you feel like drinking Black Tea. Tea is great to have with biscuits, cake or cookies. Tea is great any time of the day, when you are relaxing, getting ready for work, or even getting ready for bed. You might prefer decaffeinated tea if you are sensitive to caffeine if you are having your cup of tea prior to sleeping.
Black Tea does not always have to be served with hot water. You can enjoy a cold glass by adding some ice and whatever additives you would enjoy such as milk, cream sugar, sweeteners, lemon or lime. You can even add different juices or even alcohol to your cold such as orange juice, apple juice, mint, ginger ale and some rum. And whipping cream is a wonderful topper for a mixed drink of tea and additives of our choice.
So What Is It For You Hot or Cold?
So many people love their tea the way they were brought up with, or maybe the way an important person in their life likes it. Or maybe you learned a particular way while traveling. No matter, what's your pleasure, Hot or Cold?
How do you like your tea? Hot or on Ice?

A great cup of Hot Tea is where it's at!
Danzuc says:
I love my tea the old fashioned way, hot and strong. Thumbs up.

Hot Tea for Me!
mochakiss24 says:
i say both because the hot one soothes you and warms you up after a cold snowy day at school or work and also when your sick and the on ice one because the it tastes sweeter and that is more flavorful and its refreshing on a hot summer day!!
GreenTeaTime says:
hot!!! of course with honey, sometimes!!
SmBizGuru says:
It's starting to get cold where I live in Montana. Winter time is my favorite time to brew a cup of HOT tea. I think hot is what I prefer, though I do enjoy iced as a close second - during the summer of course :)
five says:
From my experience, hot tea with lemonade helps me to digest well. am not good on dring water, so when my stomac feels paft-couple days without #2 in restroom...u kno, a cup of hot lemonade(fruit better than juice) tea works in coupple hours
five says:
i like my tea hot with lemonade
WhiteOak50 says:
I have always been a tea drinker, so I love both hot and cold!
Teaballs says:
I like it hot, I like it cold, I like it black, I like it green, I like it in the morning, Iike it in the evening, but... I like it most... on a boat with a goat!
Seriously, black tea allows you to focus with greater intensity, while being in a more relaxed state. Other drinks that contain caffeine like coffee give you a quick rush, a jolt of speed, but it doesnt last, makes you react soo quickly you miss details, and make huge mistakes. Just cause you feel like you are functioning well, does not necessarily mean that you are.
Tea made with clean water, is the only drink that helps to cure, and or, prevent all ailments.
Real men drink tea, not coffee!
sarah enodien says:
i love my tea hot
jptanabe says:
I'm British so I grew up with hot tea served with milk and sugar (except I dropped the sugar!). And I find hot tea refreshing even on a hot day. But I have to admit a tall glass of iced tea with lemon is wonderful too!
fanfreluche says:
Both to tell the truth, but since I have to pick one, I'll take hot.
Victoria says:
I'm from Minnesota, so I drink it hot during the nine months of winter.
LindaJM says:
Both! I have hot tea in the morning and occasionally in the evening. The rest of the time I have sun tea that I keep in the refrigerator. I rarely drink coffee anymore.
jaye3000 says:
Both ways. I love sun tea, but nothing's better than earl grey in the winter.
No Way! On ice is the only way.
ArtByLinda says:
Do I have to pick, I like my tea both ways. Chose Iced for the summer...but in winter will go back to the hot stuff!
mulberry says:
I don't drink alot of tea, but I've enjoyed it both ways. My mom used to give us hot tea when we were sick. Very comforting. Ice tea was a favorite in the summertime though.
Rajays says:
Generally I prefer my food and drinks cold. Cold black tea sounds wonderful.
Evelyn_Saenz says:
I like my tea hot in the winter and cold in the summer. I usually prefer herbal tea but occasionally I drink green or black tea.
Black Tea With Lemonade - Sweet!
- Serves: Make individual servings after all parts made
- Prep Time: From the start: 20 minutes
- Total Time: for individual glass: 3 minutes.
This is my absolute favorite summer drink, but truthfully I drink it all year long. I just keep the ingredients ready and it is easy to pull together a refreshing glass of goodness. If you try this you will love it. Enjoy
Ingredients
- Seven Black Tea Bags
- Two Tubs of crystal lite lemonade
- 2 cups sugar in 2 cups of watrer
- lime juice fresh or bottled
Instructions
Take seven black tea bags and put into 3 quarts of cold water
Bring to a boil, frequently pushing the tea bags down into the water to help them bloom. Then turn the heat off and allow it to seep for 15 minutes.(You want this really strong)
Take two tubs of crystal lite, lemonade, and add to one quart of water (more than double strength)
Take 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar is completely dissolved. The water will look clear and no longer milky. (This is a simple syrup and is a great sweetener)
Now For My Favorite Black Tea Mixture:
Get a nice tall tea glass,
Put 1 ½ cups of strong black tea
Add ½ cup of strong lemonade
A good splash of lime juice, 1-2 teaspoons to taste
Add simple syrup to your taste for sweetness.
Add Ice and a straw!
ENJOY!
I keep all these parts made up in advance and in my refrigerator, What's cool is it never goes bad, and it is always ready when I am. I love it!
I made Tea today using the above recipe. Thought you might like to taste it. Yummmmm!

The Debate is on. How do you take your Tea? Hot or Cold? Flavored or plalin? Sweet or Tart?
I have so many friends with absolute, unbending opinions on how to drink tea. Sometimes they are so vehement about it, it's frightening. They mean business.
So it occurred to me, is everyone so absolute about tea? Is this really an issue worth being upset over?
So I leave it in your capable hands. Let's take a count. How do you take your tea. one lump or two? creamer or not? Hot or cold? Lemon or Lime? Anyway you like it, is fine by me. Just give us your opinion.
How do you take your Tea? Hot or Cold? Sweet or Plain? Cream or not? It is up to you.

What others are saying...
You don't even know you're doing something good for yourself
Black Tea is a very popular drink, hot or cold, drunk by young and old. While some prefer tea over coffee. They are drinking tea because they love it, however, little do they know that doctors and other health professionals consider it as health drink, and they are doing wonderful things for themselves.

- I think it is so sweet that you stepped up to shout out for black tea and you did it so beautifully! Your recipe sounds wonderful and what a great idea to keep all the ingredients at the ready! My sister sent me some plain organic green tea but I didn't care for it and neither did she. Next she sent me some peppermint tea to use together with the green and that made quite a difference. I usually don't add sugar to tea but the peppermint seems to sweeten it for some reason.
