A black cat is a feline whose fur is uniformly all black, or almost all black. It is not a particular breed of cat and may be mixed or of a specific breed. The all-black pigmentation is equally prevalent in both male and female cats.

I saw the cutest cartoon the other day. It had a picture of a witches cloak and hat lying on the floor. The cloak was covered with white cat hair. The caption read "Why Witches Like Black Cats." We just adopted a white cat from a shelter and I can attest to the white hair problem as my husband wears mostly black. Very cute lens.
