A Short Biography On Blake Griffin
Blake Austin Griffin was born on March 16th, 1989 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Blake and his older brother Taylor from first grade and until Taylor was in tenth grade and Blake was in eighth grade. Thoughout his childhood Blake was very involved in sports playing baseball, football and basketball.During high school Blake and Taylor attended Oklahoma Christian School and played baketball under their father who was the head coach. They played together during the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons and were able to win the state championship both years. During Blake Griffin's freshman year the team posted a perfect 29-0 record and he averaged 13.6 points per game. Taylor Griffin then graduated an went off to school at the University of Oklahoma Sooners were Blake would soon join him.
Blake continued to have huge success during high school and led his team to four straight state titles. During his four year run they posted an overall record of 106-6. That's pretty impressive : ) Blake Griffin was one of the most highly recruited athletes to ever come out of Oklahoma but he just couldn't pass up the chance to once again play basketball with with brother. So, he chose to play for the Oklahoma Sooners.
Although he didn't win any national championships, Blake Griffin's college career was a huge sucess as well. As with most players he steadily got better and better throughout his college career. He played two years in college, averaged 18 ponts and 11 rebounds per game, and then decided to enter the NBA draft.
In 2009, Blake Griffin was selected as the first overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately, he would suffer a knee injury that would make him sit out the entire first season. Since he missed his first season, Griffin was still considered a rookie during the 2010-2011 season. In his debut game against the Portland Trail Blazers he scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. He then went on to set a Clippers record of the most points scored by a rookie in a game against the Pacers where he scored 47! He participated in the 2011 NBA All Star Game and with his impressive vertical leap, won the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest as well.
Blake Griffin is a hard worker and a very talented player. He will be a powerful force in the NBA for many years to come.
