Staying Organized and Getting Noticed

Here are just a few tips for sorting through the tangle of your social networks.

How Can I Organize All of My Social Network Links?

The Social Brick Wall

If you're like me, you are a member of more social networks than you can count on one hand. This can make bookmarking awkward, and make it difficult to share your online "identity" in places such as forums and chat rooms. You'd like to share all of your social network memberships without sending 15 links. I've been in this situation and have come up with several solutions that are working very well for me. In my Links section here, take a look at my Social Network Grid page. I have designed a very simple page consisting of a table with all of the networks and links. Now I can just share one URL with someone and they will have access to all of my profiles. It's a nice, compact way to network.

The Social Brick Wall in my Links section is another, more fun, way to share contact information. If you haven't heard of Retaggr, it's a site that lets you create an online "business card" with links to all of your social networks. You can also "Retaggr-enable" a website so that people can tag their own photos on your site with their Retaggr cards. The Social Brick Wall lets you submit your photo, URL, and short text description so that you can be added to the wall. Consider it sort of a "social network" directory. I'm also offering advertising space free for one month for anyone who is added to the wall. It will be $10USD per month after that.

I'd love to hear what you think of these ways in which I'm trying to make keeping track of social networks easier.
