About Blue Man Group
Blue Man Group (Blue Man, BMG) is a creative organization founded by Phil Stanton, Chris Wink, and Matt Goldman; it is centered on a trio of mute performers, called Blue Men, who present themselves in blue grease paint, latex bald caps, and black clothing. Blue Man Group's theatrical acts incorporate rock music (with an emphasis on percussion), odd props, audience participation, sophisticated lighting, and large amounts of paper. It is also noted for having a "poncho section" of the audience; in the front rows, audience members are provided with plastic ponchos in order to protect them from various food, substances, paints, and so on, which get thrown, ejected, or sprayed from the stage. The shows are family-oriented, humorous, energetic and often employ thought-provoking satire on modern life. Most of the humor breaks the fourth wall, for example, interrupting the show to ridicule latecomers in the audience.

Some thoughts on the show
When Blue Man Group began in the 80's they were considered weird, baffling and of course, obscure. If you saw the show you often walked away wondering how they could possibly make a show about three guys who have wet blue faces and don't say a word for a nearly two hour show. Times change - today Blue Man Group is considered family entertainment and you'll attend shows and have people saying 'this is the 12th time I've seen them".So for those who have never seen Blue Man Group how would you describe this show? It can be easily summed up that the show defies description! How do you explain to those who have never attended three apparently innocent bald, blue and speechless men who show up on a stage that has been set to give the appearance of a factory? You don't! You recommend people see it for themselves.
You're confronted with three men who seem shocked that they have an audience - and yet at the same time maintain control in the spirit of the best master of ceremonies - and they play to that audience and at times get them heavily involved in the production.
There are few shows that you will see anywhere that have the skills needed to combine science (i.e. pouring colored fluid on their drums heads), music (as they play percussions accompanied by a day glow ensemble above them), vaudeville (as they toss things to one another) and theatre that will allow you walk away feeling better for the experience.
Early Origins
Winks once said that Blue Man's earliest origins date to a drawing of three blue men - the number of Blue Men that appear in each production - that Wink drew when he was in the fourth grade.
