On October 20, 2007, Jindal was elected governor of Louisiana, winning a four-way race with 54.2% of the vote. At age 36, Jindal became the youngest current governor in the United States. He also became the first non-white to serve as governor of Louisiana since P. B. S. Pinchback during Reconstruction; one of fewer than ten people not of mainly European ancestry elected governor of a state after Reconstruction; and the first Indian-American governor in U.S. history.
Jindal has been mentioned as a potential candidate in the 2012 and 2016 United States presidential elections, and is considered by many to be one of the frontrunners for the Republican nomination. (read the entire Wikipedia article)

A Little About Indian-Americans
(not to be confused with American-Indians)
Indian Americans are citizens of the United States who claim ancestry originating in India. The U.S. Census Bureau popularized the term Asian Indian to avoid confusion with "American Indian".
In North America the term Indian has an ambiguous meaning. Historically, Indian was commonly used to indicate Native American. If a more specific term was needed to differentiate; American Indian and East Indian were commonly used. American Indian has fallen out of favor and Native American is more commonly used to refer to the Indigenous peoples of North America. East Indian is still in common use. Currently South Asian is often used instead of East Indian. While some consider it derogatory, people of Indian origin use the term Desi to refer to the diasporic subculture of overseas Indians. The word "desi" means "countryman" in Hindi.

- I have something to share on the term "Indians".
Christopher Columbus had actually set out to discover a new sea route to India from Europe. His intent was to land on the east coast of India. Till that time, the American continent had not been 'discovered'. When Columbus found land and went in, he discovered the original inhabitants. Since they also had brown skins (like Indians), Columbus and his party believed that they have reached India. Therefore, they thought they have met Indians, and the term has stuck since then.
One more thing. America was named after Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian explorer.
