The Bare Bones About Skeleton Art

Of all the images associated with Halloween, one of the most popular is the skeleton. The skeleton is associated with the dead, grave yards, and that which gets buried.

To many, the skeleton is not just a simple Halloween icon. The skeleton has taken on a life of its own, and is considered by many to be an art form.

This page highlights the art of the skeleton, and the skeletal art of B.L. Ink.

The Skeleton Artist

The Art Of Robert Lee

Halloween Witch by B.L.Ink

Robert Lee. Bob Lee Ink (B.L.Ink) is a self-taught artist who creates skeleton art. His work revolves around the art of death. Although B.L.Ink's art pertains to death, his skeletons are alive, and done in such a way as anyone can relate. His unique style, technique, and subject matter sort of cut me to the bone.

His medium is pen and ink, and his talent is knowing something about pointillism. That means a lot of time, patience, and creative effort are involved in his work. Most of Bob Lee art is composed on stock the size of a playing card. His detailed hand work is amazing, and it is all original. His commission work is approximately $2.50 per square inch. You see, pointillism is a lot like painting with a needle.

Bones Of Contention

Grillin by B.L. Ink

Above and beyond popular Halloween costumes and decorations, the skeleton has been elevated to an every day Gothic icon. The Grateful Dead has long been associated with skeletal art,. Over the years Gothic art has elevated the skeleton to a new level. More than just a status symbol, the skeleton has been incorporated into everything from key chains to t-shirts to objects (like toilet brushes) produced for home decor. Skeleton art is also a favorite with people who like tattoos.

However, as with all art, skeletal art a matter of one's personal choice. Some people love skeleton art, and others may see skeletons as macabre. Some of my artist friends celebrate Halloween 24/7, and there are many collectors who feel the same way about Halloween art in general. Some people are OK with skeletons as objects for the Halloween season alone. Some people love skeleton art so much they are tattooed with their favorite skeleton design. What do you think?

Hey there ... well, I was just thinking that I am aching right down to my bones, so I thought, I'll stop by the bone yard and commiserate. Hugs!
