Welcome to the Nation
As a life long Red Sox fan I have endured my share of rough times but things are different these days, with the Sox playing top notch baseball and having two titles in four years things are good in beantown. If you are a member of Red Sox nation then you know what I mean by pure passion and if you are not then maybe you can learn a thing or two here.
Red Sox History
The Boston Red Sox is a professional baseball team based in . The Red Sox are a member of the Major League Baseball's American League Eastern Division. Since , the Red Sox's home ballpark has been Fenway Park.
The "Red Sox" name originates from the iconic uniform feature. One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in in . After the move from Buffalo to Boston, they became a dominant team-- defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series in . They won four more championships by , and then went into one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history. Many attributed the phenomenon to the "Curse of the Bambino", said to have been caused by the sale of Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees in . The drought was ended in , when the team won their sixth World Series Championship. Since , the Red Sox have competed in four ALCS, have won two World Series, and have emerged as arguably the most successful MLB team of the last decade.
The Red Sox led all MLB teams in average road attendance in , while the small capacity of Fenway Park caused them to rank 11th in home attendance. Every home game since May 15, 2003 has been sold out?a span of over five years and an MLB record.
You've met the Red Sox, now meet the Nation !
Red Sox Nation refers to the fans of the Boston Red Sox. The phrase "Red Sox Nation" was first coined by Boston Globe feature writer Nathan Cobb in an October 20, 1986, article about split allegiances among fans in Connecticut during the 1986 World Series between the Red Sox and the New York Mets.Red Sox Nation is spread across the entire country because many New England natives re-locate to other parts of the country and many New England college students return home after developing a passion for the Red Sox. These fans can typically be found supporting their team at Red Sox games outside of Fenway Park. They keep up with the team by watching the games on satellite television, as well as through various Web sites. Members of the Nation are even known to call sports-talk radio stations in Boston long distance during the season and remain on hold, merely to be able to talk about their beloved Sox. Fans in California have created a Red Sox Nation West.
In 2005 and 2007, the Red Sox had the highest road attendance of all MLB teams. Part of this is apparently due to a large contingent of New England-based fans who fly to Red Sox away games in other ballparks. But the major reason is that the away attendance of other teams (most notably the Yankees) is skewed downward by the fact that the seating capacity of Fenway Park is only 35,000, while most stadiums hold 20,000 more people. This phenomenon among Red Sox fans has been exacerbated by Red Sox Nation references in popular culture, e.g., films such as Fever Pitch and J. Crew catalog covers during the summer of 2007. Some sports analysts attribute the culture of Red Sox nation to be bandwagoning in the wake of their recent World Series victories in 2004 and 2007.

Believe in Boston
We never stopped believing in Sox Nation that the curse would be over and our boys would prevail and bring home the title at last and then just when that started to hit home then won it again three years later, simply amazing to be a Red Sox fan; they never make it boring- they always keep you on the edge of your seat and of late they have given us all what we have always waited for. Can they do it again this year? They certainly have what it takes, that is for sure. They are in first place and providing great excitement for the Nation. Red Sox Nation Products

Manny being Manny
Though his hitting ability is undeniable, Ramírez has periodically displayed a lack of enthusiasm and/or concentration, with mental lapses in both the outfield or running the bases. These incidents are typically described as "Manny Moments" or "Manny Being Manny." The phrase "Manny Being Manny" has entered the lexicon of Boston sports fans. In fact, the phrase has been acknowledged and given most of its initial promotion by Ramírez himself. It was coined on July 18, 2005, when Ramírez disappeared into the "Green Monster" during a visit to the mound by pitching coach Dave Wallace with two outs in the top of the 6th inning. When pitcher Wade Miller was ready to resume pitching, Ramírez was nowhere to be found. It is suggested he went to use the bathroom, but there are no toilet facilities inside the scoreboard area. Manny has returned to the wall several times since during pitching changes, but has always returned on time. Ramírez has also been seen playing left field at Fenway with a water bottle in his back pocket and while wearing MP3-playing sunglasses.Despite his reputation for lackadaisical conduct, Ramírez is known by his teammates and coaches as a serious athlete who shows up early at the ballpark, keeps himself in good physical shape, and spends extra time in the batting cages working on his swing.
