Brazil Mission Trip 2009 Success!

I knew this trip would be different in several ways. First, we were going to help the youth leaders in any way we could with our experience of traveling to over 36 countries and taking many teams. With the exception of the times I ministered, we would be in the background to assist, etc. We were able to help with the logistics of pulling off such a large team trip.

In addition, I knew from the witness of the Spirit in my heart, and it was confirmed by others who had no knowledge of my heart, that this trip would hold something for me in the Spirit. A new level in Him. I had some very supernatural times in prayer while there, and it was expressed in ministry to the youth. God moved me over into a realm of ministry that I had not flown so freely in before in the Spirit of 'seeing' and 'knowing' as I called out different kids from the team and spoke into their lives.

And finally, yet it is tied into the point I just mentioned, I have had a burning burden for the youth of the Body of Christ. It seems to me that many have had a shallow relationship with God. Jesus has been just one of many things crowded into their high-tech busy lives. My prayer has been for youth to have an encounter with God. Let me explain.

When I found Christ in 1971 in the Jesus Movement I was radically saved along with others like me who had been delivered from drugs, occult, rebellion, etc. Yet when I was led into the church world, I found a perplexing thing. So-called Christian youth were carnal, immoral, and had no deep relationship with God. They had been raised in the church all their lives yet their relationship with Jesus was shallow. So today I have noticed we have a generation of youth raised in Spirit-filled churches that have no consciousness of the Presence of God in their life. They can shout "hallelujah" one minute in church, then go right out and get drunk, do drugs and hop in bed with someone.

So my heart's cry for this trip was to see these young people come in contact with the Presence of God and see how God can use them. I can say that I saw God touch many of them and change something on the inside of them! Glory to God! That is worth the cost of the whole trip!

ARRIVAL

Pat, myself and our daughter, Johanna traveled with the Axis youth group from RHEMA USA along with RHEMA Bible Church youth pastors, Brent Bailey and Keith Nachbor. Pat and I were there to help in any way we could with the team. A team of 58 stormed Campina Grande, Brazil after over 24 hours of travel. We flew into Recife, and then took a 4 hour bus ride to our hotel.

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS

Surprise Visitor

Pat and I had an uninvited guest in our hotel room - a bat hanging from our light above the bed! One of the hotel employees promptly "got rid" of it!

TEACHING

Rhema School of World Missions

I had time enough to unpack and clean up then I went to teach 2 hours in the RHEMA School of World Missions - Brazil.
The youth pastors spoke to a group of seventy youth leaders at the same time.

MINISTRY ACTIVITIES

Daily Ministry

Here I was demonstrating to a young man how to pray for the sick.

YOUTH MINISTERING TO YOUTH

The next few days was going out on the streets to witness, going into schools where the youth worship team, the youth "step team" and the drama team ministered to the children.

The dramas had a powerful impact on the people!

The majority of the children responded to the altar call each time! Praise be to God!

The youth also ministered at a local yearly "St. John's Festival" that was going on in the city. They performed on stage and then witnessed among the crowd.

At a shopping mall where the team ate lunch almost every day, the step team performed in the food court and generated some interest.

SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE

On Sunday morning the team was split between three churches and then all came together Sunday night for the main service at RHEMA Bible Church. Brent ministered that night.

HEALING SERVICE

On Monday night I preached at a weekly healing service held in a house.

After calling up a few that needed healing and helping a couple of the young people to pray for the sick, I had all of the youth come and pray for the sick. We had growths disappear, limbs that were loosed and able to move, backs healed and more!

THANK YOU FOR SOWING INTO THE MINISTRY OF H.I.M.

(Johanna having fun participating at one of the school meetings.)

By the week's end almost six hundred people that we were able to count had been born again. We saw the youth group impacted by the hand of God, the people of Brazil touched and the RHEMA ministry encouraged and positively impacted! That is what I call a successful mission trip!

Thank you for your prayers and support!

Next stop: Kenya, Africa in August! Back to Asia in November!
