The First Thing My Daughter Did After Learning I Had Breast Cancer was to Buy a Book for Me!
***I drew the copyrighted image at left during the sleepless night of my first chemo round. Prednisone claimed my sleep and charged me up during the days before and after each chemo round. Still awake at 1 AM that first night, I arose and drew six small drawings in a small accordion style book. In this image a sale holds love on one side and cradles the love of healthy support from friends and family, spinning off healthy growth tendrils. The lower scale arms show green growing goodness balanced on a point of faith. Yellow is bordered with text reading: "change the scale so it measures from the heart".

Healthy living when we don't feel so healthy - is still the best bet. When it's too much even to get dressed, then remember the days when you did get dressed, and allow yourself the graces of anticipating good days in the future when dressing will be a joy. We can't push ourselves into guilty feelings over an illness we didn't choose.
And when it's possible to flex a muscle, lift a hand weight, and walk around your home, remind yourself that you'll do just as much as you are able to. Experts say that exercise truly benefits us. Just don't overdo it.
