Living it up in Breckenridge

When you want to pack up and get out of the rut of work and traffic jams, head off to Breckenridge, especially if you love to ski or snowboard. Breckenridge has some of the best skiing in the country because of the expansive, varied terrain, mild weather, amazing views, and dry powder.

However, what if you don't want just another ski vacation? Well Breckenridge is a great place to visit if you're looking for incredible skiing and a variety of other attractions to keep you busy off the slopes. Breckenridge offers great opportunities for snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and other outdoor adventures. In the summer, visitors have even more activities to choose from, including hiking, road or mountain biking, rock climbing, golfing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, fishing, and more.

But if you're not the outdoors type, there're still plenty of activities to make a Breckenridge vacation truly memorable.

Breckenridge's Great Indoors

Let's Eat:

Of course one of the biggest perks when you go on vacation is the food. Breckenridge has a large selection of dining options to fit any budget. The Breckenridge Brewery is a popular stop that offers typical all-American food, but the real draw is their home-brewed beer. You can enjoy your meal and beer while looking over the Ten Mile Range, which is a spectacular site. For a more elegant night out, try the South Ridge Street Seafood and Grill, which has amazing seafood. To get a little sampling of their menu without spending the big bucks, stop in for happy hour from 4pm - 6pm. For elegance and fine dining with a great wine selection, you can check out the Blue River Bistro. But if you just want to sit down to enjoy a burger and watch a game on TV, you can swing by Downstairs at Eric's, which also has an arcade for your kids, or for the kid in you. Indulge your sweet tooth at Mary's Mountain Cookies or the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

Oh what a night:

You've had an amazing meal, followed by ice cream, or chocolate, and now you're ready for some real fun. Just because you came for a ski vacation, doesn't mean you can't have just as much fun when the chairlifts stop running. If you're looking to cut a rug, check out Cecilia's, Sherpa and Yeti's, or the Liquid Lounge. The Salt Creek is the place to go for country music and line dancing. For a more laidback atmosphere, stop by the Gold Pan Saloon or just hang out at the Breckenridge Brewery all night. One word of caution, however: the high altitude and thin air makes alcohol affect you with fewer drinks than at sea level. To be safe, drink slowly and look into booking lodging in Breckenridge before hitting the bars.

Spa day:

What can be better than treating yourself to a day at the spa ? You certainly have your pick with great spas like; the Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge, the Blue Sage Spa, and the Alpine Spa and Salon to name a few. Spoil yourself with a manicure, new hairdo, massage, or any number of other treatments.

Breckenridge is more than just a world-class ski resort. It doesn't matter what your tastes are, you will be satisfied both on and off the slopes in Breckenridge. If you love skiing, you can't find a better mountain with more varied terrain and more powdery snow. But just remember to leave time and energy to enjoy the other great things Breckenridge has to offer.
