The richest day in horse racing, the annual Breeders Cup World Thoroughbred Championships were first run on November 10, 1984 at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California. The most important race in the series, the Breeders' Cup Classic, has a total purse of $5 million and is a catalyst to identifying the Eclipse Awards' Horse of the Year.

2006 Breeders Cup Classic
2006 Classic winner Invasor is four-years old and has a lifetime record of 9 wins, and only one loss (to Discreet Cat in the UAE DERBY last March, in a race where Invasor was fifth). The Argentinian Bred previously raced in Uruguay to earn the honor of Horse of the year. Invasor's next race is the Dubai World Cup March 31, 2007.
